Speed reduces after being connected for a while

Hi folks,

I have a curious question about DSL behaviour:

1) After rebooting my modem (Draytek vigor 130) it will sync at 56Mbps, and I can also achieve 51Mbps on an IP speed test from the router. This is good.

The modem status:
VDSL2 Information
Profile State UP Speed Down Speed SNR Upstream SNR Downstream
17A SHOWTIME 20000 (Kbps) 56379 (Kbps) 6 (dB) 6 (dB)

2) Several hours later... When I next look at the modem the line sync speed has dropped to about 43Mbps and the SNR has increased to about 10dB. An IP speed test yields only 40Mbps.

VDSL2 Information (VDSL2 Firmware Version: 576D17_A/B/C )
Profile State UP Speed Down Speed SNR Upstream SNR Downstream
17A SHOWTIME 20000 (Kbps) 43483 (Kbps) 10 (dB) 10 (dB)

What could be causing this please?

It's as if the connection starts fast, but after some hours it settles down to a slower speed as the SNR has got worse.
