Loosing Broadband

Three or four time a day I loose internet for a couple of minutes. Never noticed the openreach modem indicators go red, list of disconnections below for the last few days.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Re: Loosing Broadband

Hello @Peakdistrict,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing an issue with your connection. I have a checked your connection and there definitely seems to be something out of place somewhere as we can see more drops in connection than we would like and a low Sync speed. Although our tests aren't picking up exactly what's causing the issue and we would need to rule out your internal wiring out by plugging the connection into your test socket which is under the faceplate of your master socket and seeing if the drops stop. This rules out internal wiring, face plates and extension sockets as being the cause. How to locate the test socket and set your connection into it can be found here:

https://community.plus.net/t5/Library/Testing-From-The-Master-Socket/ba-p/1322242

Please monitor the connection in the test socket for 24 hour and get back to us if both the speed and connection doesn't improve.

Re: Loosing Broadband

HI Thanks for the quick reply.

The modem is plugged directly into the top socket of the openreach Mk 3 master socket, do you want me to remove the bottom socket to disconnect all the internal wiring in the house which will leave me with no phone?

Re: Loosing Broadband

Hi @Peakdistrict

We would need to be in the test socket itself that's correct - if you plug in for a Microfilter you will not loose your phone connection during this time.

Thanks

Re: Loosing Broadband

Re: Loosing Broadband

@Peakdistrict yeah that's the one - you'll need to unscrew those two screws either side of the bottom connection and then remove the faceplate - behind there you will fin the Test Socket.

Thanks

Thank you for connecting to the test socket.

I've tested your line and the test is still picking up the same issue, so we can be confident that the master socket faceplate isn't the cause of this issue. For reference, today's test result is as follows:

Re: Loosing Broadband

Hi @Peakdistrict,

Thanks for getting back to us and for completing the troubleshooting.

I've checked the progress of your fault and can see that our suppliers undertook some work on your line earlier today. Since that point, your line has remained stable.

Would you mind monitoring this and letting us know if the drops reoccur? We're happy to progress this to an engineer on your behalf but don't want to do that right now if the line isn't exhibiting a fault.

Kind regards,

Dave

Does Plusnet do G.fast yet, its on a pole at the bottom of the garden, just going live that could improve disconnections

Re: Loosing Broadband

G.fast doesn't live on poles, it comes over the phone line in the same manner as FTTC, What you are seeing is probably FTTP.

Re: Loosing Broadband

Personally I think the problem is your SNR is too low. The only way we have at the moment to increase this is to wait for DLM or book an engineer to take a look at the line. I'll update the ticket that's open on your account.
