Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

I've just checked to see if i have been assigned a static IP and i have, so my results are with a static IP which shows that doesn't solve the issue for everyone.

Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

I'll keep monitoring it and see if there are any changes in packet loss, so far still showing 0%

Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

We are aware of the issue and that is is happening normally around 6pm onward the networks team are looking into resolving the issue but we don't have an exact time currently I'm sorry about this.

And

we don't have anything currently for the networks team regarding what is the cause of yet I'm sorry that this is affecting you but we do understand the amount of people having this issue and that it needs resolving as soon as possible. I'm sure once the issue is resolving we can look into a goodwill for the inconvenience of this.

Well, there we have it ladies and gents...

My packetloss is currently 60%....

Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

I've been given a Static IP today and things are much better. I'll keep trying out streams to check that it stays that way.

@dnpark38

No you haven't - you are still on the new WBMC Dedicated network but tunnelled through to one of the old gateways.

See the post I made two days ago: https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/High-packet-loss-and-other-DNS-issues/m-p/1364514#M456...

There seems to be a common mistake being made by people regarding fixed IPs and the old/new network. People on fixed IPs can still be on the new network.

The old network uses WBMC Shared, the new network WBMC Dedicated. See http://forum.kitz.co.uk/index.php/topic,16711.0.html for a detailed explanation.

When people on fixed IPs are moved to the new network their connection is tunnelled through to one of the old bng gateways (i.e. although it is going through the initial part of the new WBMC Dedicated network all of that is hidden in the tracert).

Dave posted about this here:

@dave wrote:

That's me, I've added static IPs to a few of you to see whether that makes a difference as it changes the way your traffic routes through the network. With a static IP your traffic coming to us from you follows the same route up to a point and then goes a different way out the Internet via one of the BNGs.

If you were moved to the new network, experienced issues and then had fixed IP added, you will still be on the new network - it's just that some of your routing goes through a different path to the routing for those on dynamic IPs.

For people on fixed IPs it is not possible to tell if you are on WBMC Shared or WBMC Dedicated.

Speed is down to 1mb/s (usually 5.8mb/s for my line) - but, atleast its useable now I guess.

@jelv

http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway/

You are currently connected to gateway ptw-bng01.

This is located in Telehouse West.

Was told that means old Network.

Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

Still showing 0% for me and the fact you are seeing speed drops says to me you have another issue going on with your connection.

At no point have i had any speed drops, only packet loss.

Re: Performance Woes Hamper PlusNet Users as New Network Takes Blame

This is the first time I've had speed loss since the issues started, not sure why.

Will give the router another reboot in a bit to see if that helps....
