@ricke17
I can see we've picked this up for you off Twitter and we're investigating further.
@vindaloojim
As per my post in your thread your issue is with our Faults team.
@matty2k13
I've asked our faults team to get this picked up as a priority due to it being a week since you raised it.

@matty2k13 - how long again did you have the last power cut?  Wink

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

This is an interesting thread to discover, and mirrors my own experiences from 2013 onwards (see thread below):
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,123718.0.html
But basically my speed dropped from 76 to 50 after a year as well.  I raised two calls about this and the results were inconclusive. I was basically told that the Line Checker confirmed the speed I should expect is about 50, but nobody has ever been able to explain why the speed had dropped so suddenly.  I guess that 50Mbps is still a pretty good speed, but I'm a bit of a terrier and it irks me to not know the exact reasons behind it.
I've just done the BT Availability Checker for my phone number.  Could someone explain what these figures mean?   What are Range A & B, and High and Low?

EDIT: I think I've found the answer to the Range question:

I've been reliably informed (by an OR guy I collared with his head in our cabinet) that the cabling on our estate contains aluminium.  So I suppose 2013 represented some form of threshold, maybe caused by uptake, which caused the line to degrade suddenly?
A tortoise? What's that?

Hello,
Sorry to be a pain, but I have not heard anything in regards to this and when I go to faults.plus.net it suggests that there is no open ticket!
Thanks,
Rick.

I'll just have a look at that now to see if we've heard anything back.

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

Right it looks like we'll have to arrange a engineer to investigate further.
There's two timeslots to choose from. AM which is 8am while 1pm and PM which is 1pm while 6pm.
We should have from tomorrow till Saturday available.
If you can let me know when your available I'll get that booked in.

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

So the engineer called me and ran his tests (not sure if they can access more detailed tests than you guys can) and said all is good.  He looked at the history and the day before I migrated he said the speeds were around 80megs and since migrating to PN the speed is 66megs.  He said there is nothing wrong with any of my copper wiring with the tests he ran too, despite you guys saying that there was a fault with my copper wiring somewhere.  So I am still at a loss as to why the speeds have dropped so significantly.  He did say that I am subject to the 10 day stabilisation period (which runs out today) when I migrate to another ISP, I just assumed everything would stay the same.  He did say he could reset my profile but in doing so the speeds may drop again significantly.  So not too sure where we go from here?
Rick.

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

We can't do any remote resets I'm afraid, so only the engineer can reset the line. It's a risk but generally would be recommended.

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

I wasn't sure what to do so have left everything as it is tbh as didn't want to risk having significantly lower speeds etc.

Re: Dropped 15 meg since I joined

When he done tests did it report back 66mb? or was it the full 80mb?  Smiley
