Re: transfer to plusnet, madasafish retain domain name hosting. Simple huh?

Good Afternoon Bob
I take it the web space account has also been zapped?
whats happening with ftp with www.users.freenetname.co.uk as I last updated the website in 2014
with the google site verification tags and sitemap xml.
I think I have most of the code and images however I don't have another hosting company to upload to.

It's working again, but yes it's now empty. Have a read of what I've written below though and let me know what you want to do with the Justmail account. I'm conscious it will bill if we leave it open.

I have added 250MB of webspace to your Plusnet account. You can access that via FTP at ftp.plus.net. The username and password credentials are the same as those you use to log into the Plusnet website. The URL for your webspace is in the format [nobbc]www.username.plus.com and your domain name should already be resolving here.
Now for the bad news...
Your email is very broken. The back-end database entries are misaligned and it's going to require manual manipulation of the database to fix. This is a non-routine change that will need to go through our formal change control processes. With a change freeze looming ever closer, I'm afraid I've no faith that this will be done this side of Christmas. In all likelihood you're looking at January. I have requested things are fixed regardless, in case you are prepared to wait this long.
I recognise that's definitely not the answer you were looking for, however the only alternative I can think of to get things up and running this side of Christmas would be to transfer the domain to an external email hosting provider Sad

Just to get this straight are you suggesting transferring my domain to another email hosting provider because realistically it wont get sorted until 5th January at the Earliest?
I already Use 1AND1 for another domain so
1) should I transfer my domain out from yourselves and move over to 1and1 or
2) simply point DNS to 1&1.
Without prejudice, either way I am not confident in PNs ability in handling a successful recovery as there seems much disparity
between departments and lengthy bureaucracy between billing/platform deployment/migration team/former registrars/hosting providers/etc etc
as it has taken a fortnight to get to where we are now and the end result is ...
I still have NO mail services
(Ironically David Guetta ft Sia - Bang my Head against the wall is playing on the wire)
Taking a hit on the loss of backed up mail doesn't seem so bad if  email is on with another host in 7 days

The latter isn't possible due to limitations with our Domain Control System. It looks like you've already transferred the domain over to 1&1. You'll need to update the authoritative name servers too:
~$ whois --force [REDACTED].co.uk
[Querying whois.nic.uk]
[whois.nic.uk]
    Domain name:
        [REDACTED].co.uk
    Registrant:
        [REDACTED]
    Registrant type:
        UK Individual
    Registrant's address:
        [REDACTED]
        [REDACTED]
        [REDACTED]
        [REDACTED]
        United Kingdom
    Data validation:
Nominet was able to match the registrant's name and address against a 3rd party data source on 03-Dec-2015
    Registrar:
        1 & 1 Internet SE [Tag = 1AND1]
        URL: https://www.1and1.co.uk
    Relevant dates:
        Registered on: 28-Oct-1999
        Expiry date:  28-Oct-2017
        Last updated:  18-Dec-2015
    Registration status:
        Registered until expiry date.
    Name servers:
        ns1.force9.net
        ns2.force9.net
WHOIS lookup made at 13:43:34 18-Dec-2015

Sorry we couldn't sort things out for you.

Hi Bob
A very busy week but I have now been able to do as requested and so they (nominet) are now waiting on you to pick up the tag within the next 5 days so please prod your chaps into action to do this and to get my email back on asap!. Also to reimburse the 12 quid it's cost me.

Hi James,
There doesn't look to be any change to me. The domain is still de-tagged Undecided
~$ whois --force [REDACTED].co.uk

[whois.nic.uk]
    Domain name:
        [REDACTED].co.uk
    Registrant:
        [REDACTED]
    Registrant type:
        UK Individual
    Registrant's address:
The registrant is a non-trading individual who has opted to have their
address omitted from the WHOIS service.
    Data validation:
Nominet was able to match the registrant's name and address against a 3rd party data source on 10-Dec-2012
    Registrar:
        No registrar listed.
    Relevant dates:

Hi again Bob,
Nominet told me verbally  on Friday 18th it was done. However, they emailed me on Monday 21st (a bit later than you looked) to confirm it was done.
Here we are 24th and your guys haven't picked up on it.
What's happening now???
Thanks,

James, I really think you should have given up on Plusnet with this and moved it to a proper provider - you'd have been up and running again way before now!

The domain has been re-tagged and the name servers updated to point at us, but there are still issues with the back-end database entries at this side. I'm going to need to refer that to one of our engineers I'm afraid.
By the way, you may have received a spurious domain cancellation notice as a result of my fiddling. If you do, you needn't worry and can disregard it.
I'll le tyou know as soon as I hear anything, but our engineers may not be in a position to look into things until the New Year Sad
