Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

Since you are a 'moderator' I assume that you work for and represent Plusnet, is this correct?

From Plusnet I would expect a more helpful answer like:

'currently we do not offer IPV6 like BT, ZEN and other UK providers do, but in an effort to align to the standards and overcome the v4 IP shortage that prevents us from offering our business customers anything more than a very small and insufficient 5 IPs subnet, we have a roadmap to provide IPV6 starting from ....'

Isn't that better?

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

Incorrect, I'm a customer with no special insight to PN, their tools or roadmap.

This https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2019/10/update-on-ipv6-plans-for-virgin-media-talktalk-and-vod... states it would have been spring 2020 with a rollout - however I suspect that has been blown out of the water by the current situation.

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

Any further new on IPv6? Does PlusNet support it? Or have any plans to?

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

Could someone from PlusNet please post an update on current IPv6 rollout progress?

The spring rollout suggested in the accepted answer post has been and gone.

I have recently joined PlusNet. Having been with Sky/NowTV and BT previously, I wrongly assumed IPv6 was a relatively standard feature among leading UK ISPs. I certainly didn't think there would be such a big discrepancy between BT (with IPv6 connectivity for several years) and a BT-owned subsidiary.

I naively thought my router was to blame when I could not acquire IPv6 connectivity and came across this thread.

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

I'm sorry by why has this been marked as fixed?

It can only be fixed by PlusNet withdrawing pollex from rectum, and giving a date when IPv6 will be implemented.

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

I would agree to that last comment. This isn't fixed. It's still an issue.

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

The query was replied to and accepted.
PN is a budget supplier and will drag up IPv6 at some point, if you're that fussed about it then vote with your feet.
99% of their customer probably don't even care or know what IPv6 is.

Re: When will PlusNet begin supporting IPV6?

In reply to @dvorak I'm sorry, I disagree. And I strongly disagree that this post has a satisfactory answer - it should not be marked as such.

Just because most consumers don't know or understand what IPv6 is, failure to implement it in 2020 shows an ISP with a distinct disregard to a global issue which the networking engineers at PlusNet do (or at least, should) understand.

Come on PlusNet, you can definitely do better than this. It seems like it's been talked about since about 2011 but disregarded because of a feeling that IPv6 is a high end feature that should only be available on BT. (At least, this is what I can ascertain from reading other forum posts)

In my opinion, this decision shows an antisocial attitude to other net users - especially those within Asia.

@s12erm What have internet users in Asia have to do with a UK ISP (Plusnet)? or am I missing something???
