Reverse dns exposing user name

My ip address seems to have changed to static (rebooted router several times and it did not change) and consequently my reverse dns is now username.plus.com. This means that my username is now exposed on reverse dns. I did not ask for this change, so please change my reverse dns to not use my username or change me back to dynamic dns where reverse dns does not contain username as far as i remember.

Thanks

Have you recently changed the account based firewall settings?

Re: Reverse dns exposing user name

The firewall requires that the connection is via the 'high touch' network, which means a static IP is applied.

Re: Reverse dns exposing user name

Ah! Didn't know that. Thanks very much for the tip. So if I turn the firewall off (it is set to LOW at the moment) will I revert to a dynamic IP?

Fix

So if I turn the firewall off (it is set to LOW at the moment) will I revert to a dynamic IP?

I believe so

Re: Reverse dns exposing user name

Yup, about 36 hours after turning firewall off I have reverted to dynamic ip and the rDNS has changed back to [ip-address-bacwards].dyn.plus.net.

Many thanks @MisterW and @Townman for your help.
