Re: Fixed IP address not responding

@bryanuk  Is this a site you've set up ?

I can find at least 3 IP addresses for hcbridgeclub.co.uk, none of them are responding with a web page.

Port 90 is unusual for web access, is this something you've set up to avoid unwanted hits on your router. ?

added :

Looks like  the site is hosted by Godaddy, check the A record points at your external IP address.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

I have always used port 90 on the router, it is forwarded to port 100 on my NAS server.  It has always been like this.

Yes the url is owned by Godaddy, but the site is hosted on my NAS drive.  I have not changed any settings on the go daddy site and it has worked for years.  I have attached the settings from the go daddy site.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

@bryanuk I tried running a trace route to your site. It stopped at an awsglobalaccelorater address with an IPV6 address - couldn't get any further

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

John,

Sorry what does that mean?  Is it the DNS that is getting the translation wrong?

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

Could do with someone who knows Godaddy setups.

15.197.142.173 & 3.33.152.147 must be part of their internal workings.

31.125.40.93 is your external address for some reason it's pointing at port 90. Doing a port scan on your addess shows either neither port 80 or 90 are open or they're hidden behind a firewall, so check that port 90 is forwarded on your router to an internal device (your web server)

Not clued up on such things - as I have said, much of this is beyond my knowledge, but it suggests to me that something is saying 'sorry, don't know where to send this on to'.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

@jab1  Tracert is going to a Godaddy IP address which is correct. Godaddy setup forwards requests (not ping or traces) to @bryanuk 's site. I think the problem is getting through the router.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

@bryanuk  DNS is working correctly and is sending requests to your router.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

OK, @Champnet  - as I've said, this is outside my comfort zone, but running 'mtr' - I'm on Linux, not Windows - the trace stops at an aws.global link, and progresses no further.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

@jab1  DNS lookup on mxtoolbox.com shows :

Type  Domain Name           IP Address
A        hcbridgeclub.co.uk   15.197.148.33
A        hcbridgeclub.co.uk    3.33.130.190
Status Ok DNS Record Published DNS Record found

One of @bryanuk 's screenshots show these are unchangeable addresses belonging to Godaddy.

The other shows the forwarding rule to the actual site. Strange setup maybe someone more knowledgeable will explain.

Cheers, @Champnet  - still all a bit outside my comfort zone, so I'll just sit and watch. 😀

@bryanuk Can you check for port forwarding on your router.

Re: Fixed IP address not responding

Check your router forwarding rules, should be  : extenal IP port 90 to internal IP port 100.
