FTP access failing

I have been trying to access my webspace over FTP and I get '530 Login incorrect.' As far as I can tell, all my settings in FileZilla are correct, including the account password.

Host: ftp.plus.net

Encryption: Only use plain FTP (insecure)

User: glocal

Password: <password>

Default remote directory: /htdocs

Also, trying to ftp 'ccgi.glocal.plus.com' again fails with '530 Login incorrect.'

Host: ftp.plus.net

Encryption: Only use plain FTP (insecure)

User: ccgi.glocal.plus.com

Password: <special password>

These used to work but I haven't logged in to FTP for years. My account password work as normal otherwise, and I tried to reset my 'ccgi.glocal.plus.com' just in case.

Can someone help please.

Re: FTP access failing

More on this:

$ lftp ftp.plus.net
lftp ftp.plus.net:~> user glocal
Password:
lftp glocal@ftp.plus.net:~> ls
ls: Login failed: 530 Login incorrect.
$ lftp ccgi.glocal.plus.com
lftp ccgi.glocal.plus.com:~> user ccgi.glocal.plus.com
Password:
lftp ccgi.glocal.plus.com@ccgi.glocal.plus.com:~> ls
ls: Login failed: 530 Login incorrect.

 So, either the passwords were reset or PN has disabled my access.

Re: FTP access failing

Hi @glocal,

Thanks for coming to the Community!

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. I know you've mentioned it have been some time since you logged in to FTP. Have you logged in another way more recently?

Re: FTP access failing

I can sign in to my broadband account to see my invoices etc using the same credentials (I am signed in now). I can also log in to my default mailbox with the same credentials.

I tried to FTP using FileZilla and lftp on one machine, and an FTP client on Android.

As far as I know, the FTP password cannot be different from the broadband account password. If that's the case, something must have changed with my access at PN's end. Can someone check please. The webpages are still up too.

Re: FTP access failing

@glocal  Were you with force9 originally ?

I've just had the same problem using Filezilla but changing the host to ftp.force9.net it now works............

Re: FTP access failing

Nope. I've been with Plusnet forever, around 20 years.

Re: FTP access failing

Thanks for the reply. If  the settings work with force9 then it's a Plusnet system configuration problem.
