I acquired a domain name a week or so ago but my web settings say that it's still "awaiting confirmation from the registrar"
Anyone know how long it takes?

It depends on a number of factors and there has been a bank holiday recently to slow things down.
What does this tell you.

Looks simply like we haven't had notice the domain registration has completed, I've given it a nudge and you should be able to use it later today.
