Re: Calls from 01438 989277

I, and posters above, are equally suspicious of the statement

I also do not see it would be attractive on costs as it is two lots of 'line rental' style payments, that will only buy a few years of supplier powered voice calling.

As I am FTTP priority (suggest you check) everything suggests no new contracts would be permitted that were not a single FTTP deal - with any add-on IP voice the provider felt like offering.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

I had a call from this number this morning on my mobile. I answered it straight away but was cut off within a few seconds. First thing I do when I get a call from an unknown number is to Google it. I can understand why some people think it's a scam on the "who called me" type websites. Receiving a call that you're not expecting, then being met with silence is not a positive experience.

Why didn't Plusnet mention in their email that you might get a call? I see that someone on the "who called me" site said that he actually upgraded over the phone. I'm not good with making decisions over the phone when presented with options. The email from Plusnet simply said that, if I do nothing then I would be transferred over to EE. If this phone call is just to confirm that, then fine. That's assuming that someone at the other end decides to actually talk to me.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

The approach of an email stating a 'forced' transfer to EE is interesting to those of us following the processes.

Would you be able and happy to share it - after removing any personal identifers (address, phone, username etc) ?

I guess I am off the list for that mail having told 01438989277 that I would 'fix it myself my way'.

There seemed no need to respond in the call, a 'thank you for the options I will deal with it' should get you away with time to think it through - and come up with something better !

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

@mwwagain I've converted the email to jpeg & attached it. This was a reminder, so doesn't mention getting in touch within 30 days, but it does contain details about "add-ons" that weren't in the first email. The first email was sent on 2nd April, so my 30 days is up now. I intended to let Plusnet transfer me over to EE anyway. Let's see how it goes 🤞

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

Thanks @RadioFox

So a full-on let us cut your POTS phone off or we will force a transfer to EE.  From the dates, by waiting for the 1 April contracts price rise allows claiming the 'same price with EE' despite EE being more expensive on a new contract.

For you and the users being transferred, I hope the 'just plug it in' is working for them, or EE will be shelling out a lot of free wi-fi DECT sets.

Would this present a contract voiding opportunity for anyone wanting out ?

Had another call from that number again today. Same result. Just silence when I picked it up. Despite my numerous "hello's", I was cut off.

No doubt I'll get another tomorrow.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

Just had another call from that number...and this time there was someone at the other end.

She asked me if I had been informed about what was happening. I told her that I had received the email & was allowing Plusnet to transfer me over to EE. It seems like the caller doesn't actually have any details, other than you're a Plusnet customer.

I asked her about whether I would be forced to install FTTP, as I'm on a priority exchange. She said that I would need FTTP as part of the transfer.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

I thought the whole reason for having the move forced was it stays the same. I don’t have FTTP, only FTTC and don’t want to be forced into FTTP until I am out of contract as wouldn’t choose Plusnet or EE for that. So are you saying that they don’t just send a router out like the email said?

@chaoticliloj if FTTP is available to you AND your exchange is 'Fibre priority' then Openreach will not accept an order for anything other than FTTP. So any change for your connection must be to FTTP.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

Thanks, why wasn’t that communicated when I was emailed saying I was being moved off to EE - it just said nothing about the connection will change, just a new router to plug in when they send it and move my connection.

probably because its an automated email. The automated system almost certainly doesnt have the ability to access the BTwholesale availability matrix for your address and check whether the 'fibre priority' flag is set.

If you actually talk to an agent, they can use the availability checker and advise whether or not a change to FTTP is required.

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

So should everyone who got the email now phone CS and ask them if the email was correct and to expalin their exact personal situation ?

As the forced transfers are being presented as a 'transfer of business within group' - most notably so that it does not allow immediate contract terminations - then that clause (for new contracts) surely cannot apply.

There is no way OR could reconnect every PlusNet ADSL / (FTTC+POTS) customer to FTTP in 30 days

Whilst it may be a transfer within the group, it still requires an order on Openreach to change product , either from 'FTTC with phone' to 'FTTC without phone' or FTTP . The problem is that, in fibre priority areas, Openreach wont accept an order for anything other than FTTP!

An excellent point, although I'm not sure what percentage of affected customers would be in fibre priority exchanges ?

It doesnt seem as though the issue has been considered when designing the migration process though🙄

Re: Calls from 01438 989277

I would wonder if EE are actually changing the 'product' per se at the point of takeover ?

The product type of FTTC+POTS stays the same, but EE could reroute the telephone number to their VOIP system.

ADSL may even be the same ?

As it is OFCOM mandated they may be getting away with some things a true recontract with a new supplier would not
