Re: Bit Torrent

Not so far as I'm aware, so long as they are legit.

Re: Bit Torrent

AFAIR the larger ISPs in the UK restrict access to certain BitTorrent sites which were named in court orders several years ago.

You can access them via a VPN to download the small .torrent file, then once you have that, you can switch the VPN off if you're using a free one which is slow or has limited usage, and then carry on to download the main files using your normal connection.

You may find some blocked ones which you can access by changing your DNS IP addresses.

So a friend of mine tells me. Wink

Re: Bit Torrent

My friend was accessing them a couple of days ago no problems at all, all he gets now is a privacy page if he says access site it’s just a blank screen, hopefully someone has some ideas

Re: Bit Torrent

If PB = Pirate Bay, they are banned under a court order, and ISPs are legally required to block them. No idea what ESTV is.

BTW Do you mean 'Piracy' rather than 'Privacy'?

Re: Bit Torrent

Cheers, @Browni , so @jamsey66 's 'friend' is trying to access legally blocked content.

Re: Bit Torrent

Weirdly, I can get to the main page, which I find strange as I understand they re blocked by court order, but I wonder if it is because my ISP is not named in the order? I'm going no further than the 'Home' page, though.

Re: Bit Torrent

It's only illegal if you download copyrighted material.
There are lots of bands, devs and amateur film makers who upload their stuff there for free, like github etc, just be careful you only download non copyrighted material.
