Re: When can we reach iCloud?

Of the few i've sent to gmail i find they arent rejected but can end up in the gmail recipient's spam folder. Thing is with the move to people tending to use mobile devices, the default view in gmail mobile app only shows inbox and they have to specifically click the dashes to bring up folders and then go find the spam folder. Coupled with the default 30 days retention on spam folder means if they check spam less frequently they might not even know Ive emailed them.

Doesnt explain why gmail thinks it spam though.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

I've spent 45 minutes testing this morning, starting at 08:23... but come 08:56 everything has ground to a halt.  Incidentally Greenby webmail is displaying the time as GMT not BST... so the time stamps are one hour behind, which says everything really, doesn't it!

So testing on my laptop Outlook from accountname@accountname.plus.com to myphone@icloud.com

and

alias@accountname@accountname.plus.com to myphone@icloud.com

with Reply, Forward and New Email options, with and without attachments

is producing variable results

13 messages sent

3 bounced back to spam

1 bounced back to inbox

3 still unaccounted for after half an hour (neither delivered nor bounced) (these were sent from 08:55 today)

Time for a coffee.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

My initial ticket raised with Greenby about emailing @icloud.com has been opened and unresolved 60 days now.  Despite them saying they were aware of the issue and hoping for a fix soon.

Results are totally unpredictable:

Plain text New Email from account to icloud = 1 received, 1 bounced back to spam

Plain text New Email from alias to icloud = 1 bounced back to spam, 1 received

Reply from alias = bounced back to inbox

Reply from alias with attachment = received

Reply from account = received

Reply from account = disappeared all together

Forwarded from alias with attachments = received

Forwarded from account with attachments = bounced back to spam

I can't see any consistency of rules being applied here.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

@EBenny

Have you tried to get a 'progress' report from Greenby?

It seems to me that if they don't have DKIM implemented they will never have a credible email service.

Or perhaps that's their plan - take the up-front money from Plusnet and let everyone drift away over the next 2 years.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

Do Greenby even have a service level agreement on responses to tickets?

The Greenby bot is a lying twit and Greenby's complaints are RUDE.

I have a failed Plusnet migration for my mum with no notification of it coming (I was looking for it) and at this point I'm considering walking away from PlusnetGreenby mess and putting my mum's email elsewhere.

This DKIM issue running on and on and their dodgy certificates are rank amateur and if I wanted that we'd self-host mum's email as less-incompetent amateurs...

Life is too short.

I don't know why the superusers here spend their time fixing the mess of a company as rotten as PlusNet which is just BT in a trenchcoat. I remember when Plusnet was a small ISP in Sheffield who were good - which was probably decades ago now.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

@abitpedantic

I added the response I got from Apple to my Greenby ticket on 9th April.

Even the AI bot is ignoring us because it's last response was the one that I posted earlier in the thread from 25th Feb.

What other routes of escalation are there?  Isn't that the point of this Plusnet hosted forum?  Or do they never look at it?

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

@EBenny  Which SMTP server did you use to perform the iCloud tests ?

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

@PhilipHeyes

see message 35 for my settings... I haven't changed them as, reading other comments, I didn't think it would make any difference.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

The lack of DKIM signatures from Greenby SMTP servers appears to be a shortfall in the eyes of iCloud & also of Talk Talk.

Greenby's Support BOT when questioned on this responds with it will be fixed "in a week",  many weeks has passed,
DKIM should have been fixed months ago on day one !

I am also name@account.plus.com.  These are the settings on my MS Outlook:

Incoming mail
Server: mail.enmail.co     Port: 993
Encryption: SSL/TLS

[  ] Require Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

Outgoing mail
Server: mail.enmail.co     Port: 465
Encryption: SSL/TLS

[ ] Require Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)

[tick] My outgoing (SMTP) server requires authentication

[tick] Use same settings as my incoming mail server

[ ] Log on using user name and password

Whereas the settings advised by Greenby in the online account for Plusnet users are:

Email Client Settings
Incoming Server Address imap.plus.net
Protocol                IMAP
IMAP                    Port 993 (Encryption Enabled)

Outgoing Server Address relay.plus.net
SMTP                    Port 465 (Encryption Enabled)

If you prefer to use the POP protocol rather than IMAP then please use port 995 with Encryption turned on

Or are these alternative names for the same hosts? Seems they aren't.

mail.plusnet.enmail.co is the same host as imap.plus.net

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

The different host names in the previous post have different IPs.

Note SMTP relay.plus.net is currently hosted on the Plusnet platform.

Yeah, sorry you've lost me now @@

I can test as a user but I don't understand the rest of it.
