When can we reach iCloud?

Emails to iCloud are still being rejected "due to local policy". This typically happens when Apple's internal filters decide the messages or sending practices do not meet their standards. I know this has been a problem even before Plusnet transferred the email service to Greenby. But when will it be solved?

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

The last time I had a failure to friend@icloud.com and friend@mac.com I re-sent the email as plain text and it wasn't bounced - could be coincidence of course.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

iCloud delivery rejections repeatedly looks like :

Reporting-MTA: dns; avasout-peh-002 [212.159.14.18]
Received-From-MTA: dns; hp=laptop [86.30.96.254]
Arrival-Date: Fri, 12 Dec 2025 09:20:16 +0000

Final-recipient: rfc822; forename.surname@icloud.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 554 5.7.1 [BS01] Message rejected due to local policy. Please visit https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204137

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

Useful info. The iCloud rejections started about 2 months ago without any changes in my classic Outlook 2019 program.

@plusnettony

Any chance of Plusnet fixing this problem before outgoing mail for migrated plus.com accounts is switched from relay.plus.net to the Greenby proxy?

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

Don't know what the Plusnet support team did but for the first time in 3 months, icloud.com did not reject messages I sent this afternoon.
Have others experienced the same?

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

iCloud is still accepting plusnet.com messages today. I would tick the problem fixed box if it had a question mark on it.

One swallow doesn't make a summer...

... especially after 4 to 6 months of iCloud rejections.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

I spoke too soon. My classic Outlook did not pick up the mail delivery failed messages because they were in the Greenby website junk basket. Messages were "rejected due to local policy".

However, I found that the messages rejected were group emails (more than one recipient). Messages to a single icloud.com recipient were not rejected. Hope this helps Plusnet techs find a solution.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

Even the briefest of email messages with 2 or 3  destinations is rejected :

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

I have been trying to email to a single icloud email address without success.  This is not just affecting group emails.  Is really becoming a pain now, as my husband is working abroad and I cannot forward him anything from our work emails.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

When can we reach iCloud? That is a question that has been asked many times in the last six months. Plusnet and Greenby techs seem to be working to solve the problem. How far have they gone? The only sound you hear is silence.

Re: When can we reach iCloud?

My migration occurred on 16/02/2026 - never had a problem with sending to icloud before that.

This was the response to ticket raised with Greenby on 25/02/2026:

Hi there! I can see you're getting a delivery failure when trying to send emails to an iCloud address. This is a known issue we're currently working on.

What's happening: We're aware of delivery problems affecting emails sent to iCloud and other providers. This is related to DKIM authentication issues on our end, and we're actively working with BT to resolve it.

Current status: We're aiming to have this resolved within a week, though I can't be more precise than that at the moment.

In the meantime: Unfortunately, there's not much you can do on your end to fix this – it's something we need to resolve on our infrastructure. The good news is that this is a temporary issue and should be sorted soon.

Is there anything else I can help you with, or would you like me to escalate this to an agent for further assistance?

Let us hope the Greenby techs are working as hard as the bot.
