Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Force 9 email migrated a week ago but can only send emails via the primary mailbox.

Today emails are no longer being received by my Outlook client.

Been using Greenby.com & webmail.enmail.co for webmail but they are down today.

Not a great start with this new company hosting my email which I've had for close to 30 years Sad

Been using Greenby.com & webmail.enmail.co for webmail but they are down today.

Greenby.com is there but it seems a tad slow and it did reject my login once...

The same seems to be true of webmail.plus.net.  I was able to check mail earlier this morning but then site disappeared completely (Firefox said it was having trouble finding the site).  Now the site seems to be back but logins are rejected,

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

The Greenby.com website is now loading but when I login it is slow and throws an error when trying to show my mailboxes.

https://webmail.enmail.co/ gives a database error

So as it stands I'm unable to access Webmail and I'm not receiving emails on Outlook today.

That was also giving a database error ... but now seems ok again, to logon at least.

Not sure servers are working ok again!

... so it is ... I will escalate it, but I suspect that there's no one to pick this up over the weekend ... and if there was, no one to catch at Greenby.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I've had no email (recently) from greenby or plusnet regarding the migration, (I think the last one was about it being delayed). I would check but all my email accounts are empty and all folders have been deleted. [-Censored-] is going on?

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Outlook client is not able to download emails again today (worked yesterday day time).

Webmail is working as a backup.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

UPDATE:  3 days on:

Still don't know what happened, but report the following.

My email went down for 5 days and any email sent to the address during that time is lost / bounced back to sender

It suddenly started again, but it can't handle attachements of any medium size or greater

I'm not sure of the reliability as yet.

I've never got any emails indicating migration has started for me other than the initial notice that migration is planned to occur. I learnt from this forum that it had already started as well as the cs i contacted.

Background:

I contacted cs when it went down and they raised a ticket for the technical team, requesting a wait period of 7 days. He said it could be a migration issue and he seemed unsure if he could identify that definitively. Both webmail and thunderbird were effected so likely it is migration issue.

The email account started functioning again 4 days after reporting it to cs

Conclusion:

I suspect it might be worth doing the above if your email goes down in a suspected migration issue.

I'll keep an eye on my situation meanwhile and report updates.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I'm getting no help from Greenby.  They only seem to look at tickets once a day.

I'd like to tell them to stick their email and forward everything to gmail.  Unfortunately, ther's still long delays to emails from plusnet to gmail, so I'd better not do that yet.

I haven't been able to read all the threads because I use a screen reader.  Could someone please tell me the correct format for my account name and mailbox?  is it jones.plus.com or tommy@jones.plus.com?  and does it vary between IMAP login and the Greenby webmail loogin?

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I suspect it's worth pursuing cs over technical faults with Plusnet cs alongside Greenby cs unless you have been definitiely informed Greenby is now running your email. Even then, it may be worth checking with Plusnet cs.

This is because :

  1. Maybe attempts to migrate are bouncing between them when diffiuclty arises in migration.
  2. People here are reporting not being given any notice that their account is in a state of migration.

Personally i have no idea how to tell if my webmail and thunderbird clients are now being run by Greenby - ie :

  1. Does the POP SMTP (need to) change in Thunderbird ?
  2. Does Plusnet Webmail cease to work at some point / or does it continue for a while even though Greenby platform might then be mamaging the email account.

None of these specifics are being made clear, even though migration is now indicated as active.

After my recent difficulties detailed in my posts above, i have no idea if Greenby has any control over my email or not. Or, if it attempted control which failed and so my account is back with Plusnet again, after going down.

cheers

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I've apparently just been migrated and I've lost all access to E-mail. Thunderbird no longer connects with existing settings or the settings on the greenly site. When I click to open greenly webmail, the connection times out. I've been a plus.net customer since 2009 mainly because this is my primary E-mail address but this will clearly be the last year due to how badly this migration has been performed.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

For Thunderbird this thread might help you

https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Has-anyone-discovered-how-to-modify-Thunderbird-to-access/td-p/2...

But note that the settings quoted in the 'accepted fix' is for insecure connections. Above that message are several messages (by me) that include the settings required to use secure connections.

As an aside, even with fully working software I am still having problems, albeit with slow connections to the Greenby mail servers.  Greenby may be email specialists but the service feels 'second tier'. The email service offered by Plus.net was far superior.
