It would make your claim much more credible if you posted a copy of your latest contract showing it to include an email service.

I'm confused... If you are still signed up to Plusnet, and have been continuously, then you still do have a Plusnet email address. Either you are still with Plusnet email or have been transferred to Greenby - as I have.

Not quite sure if this is the right thread, and apologies but I don't have the energy to wade too far through past comments, but is there any indication at all as to how far along the migration is? Any ETA on when it will be done?
About the only answer I've ever had was along the lines of I would be last because (at the time) I had email, hosting, and domain with Plusnet. I moved the hosting and domain over to Mythic Beasts a few months back, but still expecting to be last anyway - it'd just be nice to have a vague idea when it might happen.
Cheers!

How long is a piece of string, @john_chandler ? This 'migration' has all the hallmarks of atypical 'BT knows best, and sod the customer' exercise.

@jab1 yeah, definitely a piece of string situation and a classic bit of BT reckless cluelessness / clueless recklessness.
The spam situation that started yesterday is really the final straw - I'm not a happy bunny having to constantly clear out "YOUR DEVICE WAS HACKED!" emails that are arriving every few minutes. I've had two more just while composing this reply!

I've finally received comms from Plus net regarding the imminent transfer of my email and domain to Greenby. I've done all the checks noted in their email but I'm unsure about the email addresses I have linked to my domain. I'm guessing these addresses will transfer automatically with my domain?

Yes - all the email addresses on the account, whether it be [email protected] or anything@domain get transferred. You may have mailboxes set up, or you may have catchall (anything before the @ sign).

Wow, I've also had the first official information from Plusnet about the Greenby migration. Changeover starts next month apparently, and when done I can finally decide what I want to do about my broadband.

I get the 'Your device was hacked' emails too. At the very same rate.
I recommend Mailwasher Pro for getting shut of them.
What I also did was set up an inbox called 'mail' - I changed all my website sign-ins to reflect that and all my emails now go there.
I set up the inboxes that were getting the emails which was Ian@ my domain name, ian_@ (and a couple of others) to be aliases and to be forwarded to a further folder called junk@my domain name.

Following the complaints letter I previously posted here and have since sent to Greenby, Plusnet and BT, for those interested I have had the following responses from Plusnet support and Greenby
'Thank you for your email to Allison Kirkby. My name is Nicole, and I work within the High-Level Complaints Team here at Plusnet. Your complaint has been passed to me for review and response. The migration of Plusnet email services to Greenby was not a decision that Plusnet took lightly, and I am genuinely sorry if this migration has caused you frustration.
Plusnet's primary focus has always been providing broadband services, and we have never been nor wanted to be a dedicated email provider. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to provide the level of support and expertise that an email service requires.
Our customer service agents are not specifically trained in email support, and any issues that arose often needed to be referred to specialist back office teams for investigation and resolution. By migrating the email service to Greenby, Plusnet is able to focus on delivering the best broadband service possible, whilst ensuring customers receive dedicated email support from a specialist provider. An additional benefit of the migration is that customers who choose to leave Plusnet for another broadband provider can retain access to their email address. Prior to the migration, leaving Plusnet would have resulted in the closure of the associated email account. Moving the service to Greenby provides greater flexibility and continuity for customers who wish to keep their email address regardless of their broadband provider.
I would also like to highlight that Plusnet email accounts were provided as an optional service at no additional charge. That said, I fully appreciate how important email services are and understand how frustrating any disruption or issues can be. This is one of the reasons why Greenby was selected as our migration partner, as they have dedicated teams who specialise solely in email services, whereas Plusnet agents do not have this specialist training.
If you are currently experiencing issues with your email service, these will need to be investigated directly by Greenby. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide timescales for any resolution, as this is managed entirely by Greenby. However, if you are experiencing ongoing problems, I would be happy to raise an escalation with Greenby on your behalf. If you do have any questions, please do give me a call on ********** or by reply via this ticket. Please do not reply to the automated update notifications—you’ll need to click the link in the latest update email to view or respond to your open support questions For additional help, you can also visit our support site: https://www.plus.net/help/ Kind regards, ...'
I think I have reached a dead end here and need to continue to prod Greenby now. Yesterday I received a slightly more promising response from them (after a bit of too-ing and fro-ing):
'Our team of engineers are constantly working to resolve any existing issues affecting migrated Plusnet customers.
To improve email delivery and authentication, we have recently deployed DKIM across all domains to enhance deliverability. However, until all migrations are fully complete and while emails are still being proxied via BT, some delivery issues will unfortunately persist.
Feedback regarding our communication is being taken on board, and we are currently looking into implementing additional features and changes to improve how we keep affected customers informed. We do have a public status page which does provide any updates on outages. https://status.greenby.com/
At this moment in time, we are unable to comment on whether a general update or apology will be issued.
Kind regards,'
I have noticed that test emails to my gmail and hotmail account are now coming through, but atm I still can't be sure that all gmail or btinternet etc will arrive.
Spam is another issue I am still battling with!

Chatgpt suggests this response to Plusnet:
Dear Nicole,
Thank you for taking the time to respond and for explaining Plusnet's reasons for moving the email service to Greenby. I understand the rationale behind the decision, and I don't dispute Plusnet's right to concentrate on its core broadband business.
However, my complaint was really about the way the migration has been handled and the problems experienced by a significant number of customers as a result, rather than the decision to migrate the service itself.
I also don't think it is quite as straightforward as saying that any ongoing problems are now entirely a matter for Greenby.
Greenby has now confirmed to me in writing that:
"until all migrations are fully complete and while emails are still being proxied via BT, some delivery issues will unfortunately persist."
They have also confirmed that DKIM has only recently been deployed across all domains.
This would appear to confirm that the migration is not yet complete and that BT infrastructure remains involved in the delivery of our email. It also confirms that some of the delivery problems customers are experiencing are a consequence of the ongoing migration arrangements, rather than simply individual technical problems with customers' accounts.
I appreciate that the email service itself has now transferred to Greenby, but Plusnet selected Greenby as its migration partner and reassured its customers about that move. I therefore think Plusnet retains some responsibility for ensuring that the migration it initiated is completed successfully and that its former email customers are not left with an unreliable service in the meantime.
The fact that the Plusnet email service was provided without a separate charge doesn't really alter that concern. Many customers used these email addresses for decades and understandably relied upon them as part of the Plusnet service.
I would therefore be grateful if you would take up your offer to escalate this with Greenby on my behalf. In particular, I would like clarification on two points:
- When is the migration expected to be fully completed and the proxying of email via BT expected to end?
- Given Greenby's acknowledgement that some delivery problems will persist until that happens, what are Plusnet/BT and Greenby doing together to ensure the migration is successfully completed?
I also remain disappointed that affected customers have not been proactively informed about this situation. The explanation Greenby has now provided to me would have answered a great deal of the confusion being expressed on the Plusnet Community forum had it simply been communicated to customers directly.
Thank you again for your response and for offering to escalate this. I would appreciate it if you could do so.
Kind regards,...
I'll mull it over and send on Monday...

One week before migrating to BT to keep my landline I escalated to Plusnet via their complaints process and 2 days later I was migrated to Greenby. I was told it was delayed because I had an old unused webpage with Plusnet. So far all looks good with Greenby.
To use my landline I connected a standard BT - RJ11 cable directly to my house telephone network. Just where the copper cable comes in using one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0F2DSV2VQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1. This worked perfectly.
