Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

@Stampy

Here you go....

Just checked my emails and got these - today!!!

SpamSpam

===============================================================================================

I have noticed a change of threat with this particular SPAM email....

My ESET security has intercepted them as usual but now based a trojan type payload of 'DOC/Fraud.ATT' this has only happened since Saturday 23rd May, with more today"!!!

ESET automatically cleans them and puts them in  a "detected" folder in Outlook on my PC

Such a pity that Greenby cannot detect malicious payloads and block them at server level Sad

Yeah, my copy of Thunderbird just throws them straight into my SPAM box

Getting anywhere between 5-10 of "them" emails a day

Same here, on both counts. I've just deleted 14 of "them" emails.

First I've heard of this. What's the timescales, looks like it has been going on over a year now?

However, while consdering what action I should take, I looked a bit more into Greenby and its parent company Enix Ltd. On Trustpilot, Greenby gets a miserable 1.2 (as we know, it's a wonder it's as high as that). A fellow product of Enix, Eco Web accessed direct from Enix's homepage, where mysteriously Greenby has no reviews, gets a rating of 4.9 and a red warning from Trustpilot that Enix are breaching Trustpilot's rules and manipulating reviews to their own advantage - hence the 4.9. I know whose side I would take in this case: Trustpilot over Enix.

As a former customer of EcoWeb the backstory is that they got bought out and the server migration that new owners Enix ran went so badly that Trustpilot ratings tanked and Enix just used a frozen "this was the score before all this went down" on their web page, hence the warning.

A migration process had been communicated and thought through even more poorly than the one PlusNet is doing on email accounts. They deleted, presumably by accident, many customers' email inboxes and websites, and it became clear they had not backed anything up for quite some time before migration. This led to them rolling things back to backups from months earlier to try and cover their tracks. The staff were clearly given an official line to take that nothing was wrong and any errors must be the fault of the many many customers who were complaining.

Wouldn't trust them to run a tap.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

What happens if I don’t upgrade?
No worries. We will continue to receive and store emails for 2 years. You can upgrade anytime during this period to regain full access to your account, past emails and any new ones too.

From
https://greenby.com/support/knowledgebase/faqs

Given it mentions 2yrs it seems like that only applies to broadband account holders or maybe even they lose emails if they don't upgrade (whatever that means) within the 2yrs after user's migration date.
