Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

A few weeks ago, my wife and I received hundreds of emails, which would be consistent with the experience of others who have migrated to Greenby ... but, so far as I am aware, our emails haven't been migrated! Certainly, we have not received notification of migration. So, like others, I am mystified by the performance of PlusNet and Greenby batch-releases. It all sounds pretty 'leaky' and very annoying. We have been with PlusNet for over two decades but really their gloss has gone.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

So, has there been some unfortunate IT 'incident' around the migration work? A temporary data breech, a hacking? But then, why isn't every Plusnet member getting Spam?

Is there something in common with all those suffering increased Spam, such as having non standard Plusnet email accounts, originally with non Plusnet providers?

Anyone have any ideas?

PS. When I posted the above I had not read the interesting post, #285, from blairatholl

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I migrated to greenby before Xmas.

It has been hopeless - constant log in problems - constant mail delviery failures to anybody with icloud/gmail address..

I thought plusnets webmail service was bad in the end and it was - this is worse...

I been with plus net since 2003 - I paid for the this email address - they keep telling me it was a free service it was not...

Awful - whole thing is awful

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

All by itself, without me changing any settings, it seems that I can now successfuly send from Thunderbird. For weeks emails showed as 'sent' but recipients never received. Now it seems to be working again.  But webmail, which was still sending successfuly, today won't send but has an Error message!

It's all a bit of a mess.

I understand sending emails to Gmail is an ongoing problem and is still being looked into by Plusnet.

What problems do you have logging in to Greenby webmail? Do you log in via the Greenby portal at Greenby.com or directly at Roundcube Webmail :: Welcome to Roundcube Webmail (greenby.com).

Typically, different usernames are used for logging in to the Greenby portal and directly to their webmail. I have no trouble logging in to either, though I have a standard Plusnet email account setup. Was your email account an original Plusnet one or originally some other, such as Force9?

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

After all sorts fo problems logging in to Greenby Dashboard, to Webmail and the such (apparantly with a work-through solution as of yesterday), at least Thunderbird worked. Now, this morning not even Thunderbird worked and logging in to Greenby Dashboard, my email domain/inbox or whatever they choose to call it today has disappeared. And as I write this while monitoring the Dashboard, it's suddenly reappeared emtpy and then suddenly some emails appeared. And now trying Thunderbird, it has worked and properly downloaded the emails.

This might have been a temporary 'glitch' (or was it?) but my confidence is simply being undermined by all these daily issues. I thought I had stabilised things yesterday, but no. My disappointment and the drip-drip of reputational damage being inflicted on PlusNet by Greenby, caused presumably to some extent by PlusNet itself with its migration strategy and execution, is pressuring me to start migrating away from PlusNet email (to what has been my backup gmail address), and when my contract ends, to move away from PlusNet Broadband itself. It's so sad that things have rached this pretty pass.

Why not set up a forwarder to your gmail?

Whereas, my experience?

Just successfully logged into Greenby webmail - fastest Greenby webmail log in I've ever experienced. 😮

It seems even more prompt if one enables 2FA

Posts will be more widely understood if we stop using acronyms. 2FA for those who wonder is two factor authentification.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I'm interested in Thunderbird solutions.

My son's email address is a secondary plusnet address. He has been unable to send using tunderbird for some weeks. Keeps getting messages suggesting an authentication or password problem. Im the primary account holder and have checked and tried changing his password nit this seems to have no effect.

We plan to try again to resolve the issue this easter weekend but for now he's having to use another service.

Greenby didn't explain what 2FA meant, so assumed everyone knew.

Is the error when validating incoming or outgoing server?

Ask the Greenby bot and tell it to avoid acronyms.

But, presumably, the people using the software should know?

All these reported issues, allegedly with Greenby, are confusing to those of us not having any of the said problems. So many reports also seem incomplete: "I am having trouble logging on since my email moved to Greenby"

What does that actually mean? I can think of at least four separate meanings:

1. I can't log on to the Greenby portal
2. I can't log on to the Greenby webmail site
3. Sending emails to the SMTP server fails
4. Receiving emails from the mail host fails

I have no problems with 1 and 2 (which require different usernames - this is surely well known by now?) and don't use my own client email program, so 3 and 4 don't apply.

I suspect there are so many separate issues involved with these email problems, more than the above, that without intimate knowledge of the details of any particular case, it is not easy to get to what is causing them.
