Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Many thanks @redsox9 . I have sent something to OfCom with that link & it was painless and worked well. (!) . I have also issued a missive to my MP  as I think about it more there are quite a number of  organisations that use email with legal implications nowadays.  I would rather not get into trouble if a couple of firms in this line of business are having a squabble.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

@SagaPlus  Thanks. You did your bit. Plusnet is no longer the "reyt as rain" Yorkshire ISP that many  joined decades ago. Let us hope that those who have been inconvenienced and dismayed by the disastrous email migration to Greenby will get some redress.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Hello. As a newby I don't know how to post a question so I am using "reply". Sorry if that is a problem. Anyway .....

My long serving PlusNet Outlook email system has moved over to Greenby and I have no serious issues ... I think! As before my inbox contains folders called  "drafts", "sent", "trash" and "spam". They seem to be updated normally. However, the inbox has mysteriously acquired some additional new folders called "INBOX.drafts", "INBOX.sent", "INBOX.trash" and "INBOX.spam". So far (a couple of weeks) they have stayed totally empty. I'm unsure if this indicates some problem which I should worry about. Any advice would be very welcome.

Regards, David

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I've used THunderbird for email for years. I too in recent times have acquired mysterious additional folders.  And while emails sent by Webmail arrive at the recipients, sending still doesn't work from THunderbird. They emails show as Sent, and appear in the Sent Items folder, but they don;t arrive at the addressee.

Ditto - this is happening to me this morning. It seems to be constantly populating INBOX folders of varying flavours as noted by DaveWhitc

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I use Office 2024 Outlook and have never had such external effects on my settings.

So, for clarity.....when you say Outlook are you talking about the cloud version of Outlook>

Also, are you using IMAP or POP3 ?

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I'm using Outlook for Mac and imap.plus.net for incoming server (its an Imap account not Pop3).Screenshot 2026-03-06 at 12.45.05.png

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Hello. I am using a PC with Outlook from Office 2019 and Imap. A quick check shows that emails I send do go in the sent folder and do reach the intended recipient.  They never go in the mysterious INBOX.sent folder.

@tarencapel

Your problem looks like this one Inbox name too long - Plusnet Community.

Perhaps @plusnettony can sort it out?

@DaveWhitc

This happened to me too three weeks ago (see Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby - Page 40 - Plusnet Community). I just deleted them (i.e. shunted them into the Trash folder). Nothing has gone wrong as a result.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Suddenly getting this message SMTP Error (550) : Failed To Set Sender

Some emails are getting through but the majority aren't and now incoming emails are going straight into Junk instead of Inbox.

I've absolutely no idea what the solution is but this can't go on!

Hi @Bobbymax42,

Welcome back to the Community!

We have a thread concerning the spam filters on Greenby, where some of our users are discussing the options that have worked for them.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

How do I know if I've been migrated?  I still haven't recieved any notifications from Greenby.  I still receive and can send emails using my Plusnet credentials in Outlook and can also log in to Plusnet email on the internet, although that looks a bit different this morning for some reason, but it doesn't mention Greenby anywhere.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

Hi Dave @DaveWhitc

I would love to know your outgoing server settings on Outlook. I have used Outlook 2016 as my main email client for many years but since the migration nothing I send is delivered, nor do I get bouncebacks. I have tried different ports, with encryption on or off, as various posts here have suggested but nothing works.

Re: Update on Plusnet email migration to Greenby

I have exactly the same question, in fact I think I asked similar before.
