Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

As so often, Townman comes across as the voice of  common sense.

I think we're entitled to know officlally from Plusnet whether or not they plan to progress and complete the migration while the Gmali/MS issues remain unresolved.

Surely it would be crazy, but the post below from Coimmunity Gaffer James_B earlier today conspicuously doesn't answer the question !

***We’re continuing to make progress with the Plusnet email migration, and we appreciate your patience throughout this process. While the migration is still underway, we’re continuing to review some of the data inputs and finalise testing for the next batch. This review allows us to ensure everything is aligned for a smooth transition and to avoid any disruption to your service. If you’ve already received a migration notice, there’s no need to take further action—your migration will proceed shortly. We’ll provide a further update when we have something to share.***

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

From earlier posts the migration to Greenby is not being considered as a fix for any of the current email delivery issues.

So rose tinted promises from Greenby's chat bot are poppycock.

Assuming Plusnet continue to work successfully on the current delivery issues and come with solutions,
will such solutions be applied to the email accounts that have already migrated to the Greenby platform ?

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Hi Peter,

Thank you.

I suggest that @James_B's comment is essentially an official statement that the migration will continue, unabated.  It is a long journey, there are multiple brands ... and as yet, I believe that only the PLUS.COM brand is blighted by the bulk sender measures.  The PLUS,COM migration is at the backend of the programme.

Therefore it is probably fair to suggest...

  1. The early phases of the migration are not overshadowed by the current issues
  2. There is time for the issues to be progressed before PLUS.COM moves into the migration programme
  3. AIU matters, there is no characteristic in the migration activity which would have any bearing on the configuration elements which are thought to influence the issues

I spent 35 years supporting major IT programmes: based on the knowledge of what is happening, I would be continuing too.  Get the unaffected domains moved to where they are going regardless of the on-going issues for the last in the programme service.

This is not a single email service which is being moved, but rather 14 of them!!

Unless I have missed something or someone knows differently...

  1. No PLUS.COM account has been migrated and will not be migrated for a while
  2. No email users other than PLUS.COM have been impacted by the bulk sender measures
  3. Unless it is discovered that there is some really bazar cause here, this is not looking like a Plusnet email server issue

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Thanks, Townman.

What you say makes sense to me.

Gmall test results currently disappointing.

Nothing's been delivered instantly for the last couple of days and I:ve had two emails disappear completely (*) for the first time in ages.

(*) = undelivered after 24 hours.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Peter,

Glad that helped.

Can we leave the Gmail discussion in the other thread please?  I asked a new series of questions earlier today... following my own testing results.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Happy to continue Gmall discussion in the other thread - by which I assume you mean 'Problems sending PN email to Gmail addresses' - check?

But I haven't seen any new post from you in that thread today regarding your own test results.

The last message I can see in that thread is #139 - a reply from me to Plusnet Help Team staffer 'Marsh'.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

I suspect that "they" (at Plusnet) set up an automated system ages ago, to keep their email filters up to date. Thus I guess "they" are guilty indirectly that the updated filters seem to upset some senders outgoing emails, and that (probably due to a lack of knowledge and staff) they are not manually updating the control files to allow legit emails through.

I have already moved  some of my email (using my own domain name, but forwarded via Plusnet), I need to do the rest now. But I suspect that the out-sourced email service will, like where I have moved to, be a LOT better, if only because that is one of their main businesses, unlike Plusnet, which is primarily a broadband provider (with little incentive left to support emails, domains, web sites and so on)

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

My first time on here in ages (to look for a fix for an email problem which in the meantime I've now sorted) and I've just seen this.

I'm assuming our broadband (including email) account isn't affected by this migration as we've had no notification about any planned changes and hadn't even heard of Greenby till now.

There's also no info in the member centre that I can see, so am I safe to assume we're not in scope of the migration? thanks

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

All EMAIL services are in scope for migration as and when personally advised.  When you’re due, you will be advised.

The user portal is not the place to communicate the service changes.  That will be done by direct email and A&G given around here.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

@balvack2 ALL email provision will eventually be  by Greenby. Is your email address 'you@youraccount.plus.com', or one of the legacy brands?

You should have received at least two emails about the move.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

@jab1

As a point of reference I do not recall receiving any email on the migration activity.  Some email brands are “in flight” plus.com has not started.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

@Townman I've had two - one dated 13/05/25 telling me my account would be moved on or after 14/07/25. and one sometime in August which seems to have disappeared for some reason which I suspect is due to a strange change of email address (don't ask) on my iPad - it was originally my default address (which I am not posting on here), but has now changed to 'my username@myusername.plus.com

The original (13/05) message was sent to my correct (me@icloud) communication address.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Thanks for the confirmation. I appreciate that we will be told when we're due. My concern is that we haven't had any notification that this migration was happening / going to happen.

And I'm concerned that depending on how much notice we are given, that might not give much time to plan to migrate our numerous email accounts if we decide to move to another service provider as it seems there are lots of issues with the (mandatory) migration.

Re: Update on Plusnet Email Migration

Yes our addresses are in that format. My issue is we knew nothing about this (future) migration until I saw this thread. We have had no emails about the move.
