I currently cannot send emails from my ipad because the smtp.plus.net certificate is not trusted. How can I fix this?
I can receive emails OK
Fixed! Go to the fix.

changing to "relay" rather than "smtp" has fixed it for now. Do you still want screenshots?

For clarification, all of the clues were in the first post:
- Many email clients unhelpfully guess the mail server names, using smtp.*.* (though how this maps to plus.net without autoconfiguration ... is not apparent - possibly entered manually)
- smtp.plus.net is a working alias for the outbound relay server so it will configure successfully
- The relay.plus.net security certificate however does not have smtp.plus.net as a alias so it all falls apart at the point of attempting to send an email
This has been the case ever since email connection encryption was implemented. There have been multiple requests to have smtp.plus.net added as an alias to the certificate ... to deal with the unhelpful characteristics of many "lets make this easy" tactitics email clients.
In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
