ICANN do request domain confirmation.

This does raise an interesting question for the. Ligation programme when domain servers are changed.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Having clicked through to the page in question [ICANN link above] I found it to be a very long site-map-style page with (seemingly) no immediate relevance to the domain-verification aspect.

[page display perhaps browser-dependent (?)  using a desktop and Edge, here, maybe page looks different on other browsers or devices]

 

However a long way down was a block of relevant text so made a screenshot:
