Dear Bazzer.  Profound apologies.  You can relax - the posting was by Buzzbuzzybuzz.  I'm afraid I just saw the `B' and my mind assumed it was you.  Hope no damage done.

@Anon

Apologies as fat fingers meant I accidentally removed that word while using my mobile device.

I have edited it back in again.

Re: Problems with Webmail

Azagoth posted

I usually use Thunderbird for my mail, with it set to allow mails to remain on the server for seven days.  Earlier today I accidentally deleted an email in Thunderbird and thought I'd retrieve it via the online webmail portal.

Well, I waited five minutes for the thing to initially load (strange considering that there's only a few emails in the inbox).  I clicked the sort by date button and it's reverted to that spinning wheel saying 'loading' again.  I've been sat here waiting for it to 'load' again for another five minutes now.  Why does it have to load again simply in order to sort the mails by date order?  And then it takes another five minutes to actually load the email into the preview pane - a short, text only email I might add.

This thing is laughable, how this can be considered fit for purpose in the 21st Century is beyond me.  It's like something from the 1990s.

Re: Problems with Webmail

I've got Thunderbird set to keep emails on the server forever.

However, I archive all emails to my PC - they are instantly retrievable there!

Re: Problems with Webmail

Email is very, very, very slow at the moment.

Not loading emails.

No change to email service speed, since this time last year. Sometimes it works as it should, others its very, very, very slow at working.

Re: Problems with Webmail

Yes, as of now the 'service' is probably as bad as it has ever been since this problem started, just about a year ago.

I am getting

Service Unavailable

The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.

Every so often I get a page of messages.  If I try to see one I then sometimes get an 'Invalid Request' message (a new one) when I try to view it.  If I try to delete an email, this takes 1 - 2 mins or fails.  I'd like to read an email about tonight's appointment, but cannot.

And worse still:  half the emails now are ones from Plusnet saying that some spammer has sent me an infected file or attachhment.  I don't want to receive this information, and I will never want to open those emails.  But I then need to delete them - wasting even more time.  How can I stop Plusnet doing this?

And on top of everything, Plusnet tells me I am using more than 1GB of storage and asks me to spend 'a minute or two' deleting unwanted emails.   A few hours would be more like the time needed at the moment, and meantime it is easy to receive emails, such as one my wife got recently, with an instructional presentation, which was a thirty-one MB pdf file.  You don't need many of those to breach Plusnet's pathetic allowance.  Plusnet threatens to 'archive' their choice of my emails if I don't comply, and it seems they are actually doing this to customers, even while the service is so dire that compliance is practically impossible.  If this isn't a matter for a regulator or similar, I don't know what is.

I have lost all confidence in Plusnet, if they cannot fix an email service after a year, and I have started a plan to move my webmail to another provider - not simple when we are using our own domain for webmail - and will let the community know when this has been successful.

Re: Problems with Webmail

I have to get my emails at 6.30 every morning as after that it's often impossible.
