Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

An ask of support (by phone) is always a good move.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Does anyone know what underlying technology / software / service Greenby are using or do they have something bespoke? I've only just become aware of this migration and I am very likely to fill in the opt-out form...

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Just received the email about this change. Can anyone tell me if I will be charged for each of my mailboxes on my account. I have an email only account..

The charges are per account.

@Freedom

I suspect if you opt out of the migration then you'll lose the email address.

Yep, that's what the email says, e.g. from one I received a couple of days ago ...

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

But how will Plusnet know this?

I have 2 Plusnet accounts, my legacy one which started as my ID on Force9 then moved over to Plusnet, that is the one I have always used for my emails, then in 2020 I ported out my number, which threw a huge spanner in the works, the only way to resolve it was to have my Broadband on one account & my emails on the other.

To my knowledge there is no link between the 2, the email I received was to my legacy email, I never log onto my broadband email as all emails to that domain are forwarded to my legacy email.

Who do I need to get in touch with as as I see it I will only get 30 days currently.

Apologies this was supposed to be a reply to @Townman about his comment legacy user = current user or words to that effect

@Phaeton I'm trying to look at the data for this to see what we can do, could you PM me both the old and new usernames please and I can check if you appear in the data I'm looking at.

For full clarity on your specific circumstances you’ll need to call support.

There are micro details we’ve asked for clarification about.

EDIT: @dave is typing faster than me today!

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@bmc yes, it would delete the data and lose the email but that is kind of what I am looking to do as I don't want my data going to an unknown org. I want to understand who Greenby are and what tech they are using and whilst I can find a privacy policy I can't find anything about their underlying tech stack, hence me asking the question.

So, does anyone know what Greenby are using 'under-the-hood'?

@Freedom They're part of enix ltd. I used one of their brands (Ecohosting) for email hosting a year or so ago and it was excellent. I only moved away because of their charging structure to support multiple domains. I don't know what their underlying tech is but its likely either Exim or Postfix (just about all are!). Their webmail is based on Roundcube like Plusnets. Their user interface was CPanel.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thanks for the comprehensive answer @MisterW . That is enough for me to fill in the opt-out form and finally move my 'spam' account to a different system.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@Freedom if there's anything specific you need to know I can ask Greenby and get back to you.

Just to note that if you opt-out then there's a date in the email where on or just after that date we will close your email address and delete any saved mail (and website if you have one). May be worth downloading any mail you have if you haven't already just in case.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Don't worry about looking into it anymore for me Dave, I've made my decision. Thanks @dave it is dated as 14th July so I will do so before then. End of an era. I've had this since F9 days!
