Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

" SOMETHING " seems to be happening with my Totalise email account at PlusNet . Logged in via their website and there appears to be MANY emails going years back which I would have deleted years ago sitting in a " sent " folder , so maybe I am being migrated ??  Hopefully I won't have to delete all those emails again !!

The real consideration is to accept what is going to happen (which means you can keep the use of your existing ISP based email address) or go do your own thing and invent a completely new email identity, whilst losing that which you have share with so many parties.  Frankly changing now by whatever means and creating a new email identity is much higher risk than moving to Greenby.

For me my PN addresses (two accounts) are mainly used for PN, so I'm not paying £30 a year for that and will wind them down. TBC if that is prior to being 'Greenbyfied'.

I already have personal domains with email so it is just a case of changing over a few lists / accounts, rather than other humans.

A post by the Enix boss which has a lot more background on Enix:

https://feedback.brixly.uk/changelog/brixly-enix-one-month-on

I would suggest that the Brixly acquisition by Enix does not set a great precedent.  Have they learnt ?

So it Brixly was cheap but provided great customer service and made no money.  So Enix 'reset expectations' of customer service.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

I’m a standard user@subdomain.plus.com customer and I’ve just received my invitation to be migrated to Greenby, the wording being “we will begin transferring mailboxes from 17th November 2025”.

Amusingly (or perhaps horrifyingly), the email also says “Greenby are one of the most reliable email providers available” – based on what, I wonder?

Their own internal marketing blurb, don't forget there are only 5 people working in the company the rest is AI

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

When there's an non-PlusNet email address used as the account email address, emails from PlusNet Support, such as monthly billing emails, contract changes, and "Question" emails when a problem is being discussed, are sent to both the account email and the PlusNet inbox.

But I've noticed over time that many of the Question type emails don't arrive in the account email, and so only appear in the PlusNet inbox.

They're not in the Junk Email folder so either they're not reliably sent to both addresses or are somehow filtered by the email provider.

This might be an issue if the PlusNet inbox isn't migrated so only the account email is available.

I’d be more assured if it said “Greenby is…) but perhaps I’m an endangered specimen.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

The email from Plusnet about the move to Greenby said:

"You need to change the inbound mail server to imap.plus.net and the outbound mail server to relay.plus.net. These details can usually be found and amended in your mail client (ie. Outlook / Thunderbird) by going to the account settings option."

In Outlook is this as simple as making the change in the Account Settings/Server Settings option in each of the existing POP accounts or do I have to start again and set up new accounts using the imap option in the Advanced Setup area for adding an account?

Sorry I know this is not an Outlook forum but I am not very technical and from the information in the Plusnet email  it is not really clear to me what it is we have to do.

Thank you.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

You may have a setting wrong in the settings which will cause future problems.

Do you know what version of Outlook you use? Also, do you keep a copy of the email on the server, or do you download to Outlook not leaving a copy on the server (this will help us identify if you need to use mail.plus.net or imap.plus.net.

It is!.

or do I have to start again and set up new accounts using the imap option in the Advanced Setup area for adding an account?

No you do not!

The email makes an assumption that everyone is using IMAP rather than POP. For a POP account, strictly speaking you should change the incoming server to mail.plus.net. Although now the new mail proxy is in place, mail.plus.net & imap.plus.net both resolve to the same IP so it doesnt matter which you use

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@plusnettony

Our server settings currently are Incoming - mail.plus.net and outgoing - relay.plus.net.

We have Office 365 but are not using the new version of Outlook which Microsoft have been pushing recently. The email accounts have been set up for years and were set up as POP accounts.

We don’t keep copies of emails on the server, all are downloaded into Outlook.

Thank you.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@annjenni19

In that case check the authentication details: they should be the email address or <accountname> or <accountname>+<mailboxname>

If all is as above, one wonders why you received an email indicating you need to change the settings.  Do you have multiple devices accessing the same mailbox ... which is a somewhat dangerous practice if POP3 is in the mix.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@Townman

Thank you. The authentication details are <accountname>+<mailboxname>

Emails only accessed from one PC

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Hi
Iam a plus.com customer.
I received the email regarding the email migration to Greenby with a transferdate.
The email is only for my default mailbox, accountusername@accountusername.plus.com.
But i created in the past additional mailboxes like, something@accountusername.plus.com and use them as my main email address.
Are these additional created mailboxes inclusive in the migration to Greenby?
