Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thanks for the update - I only found out about the migration by accident , had a few problems logging in to plus net mail - now all is fine on Plusnet mail.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Hi My wife has received the email about transferring to Greenby on 31st October. I have not. Does this mean different email addresses with the same domain will transfer at different timescales? Also it directs her to change the servers to imap.plus.net and relay.plus.net, they were already set like that.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

@dgp Which of you is the account holder and which 'brand' of the PN stable are you with? The movement to Greenby is user account based - i.e. if your account is '@yourusername.plus.com' then the transfer will affect all mailboxes on that account, but only the account holder will be notified.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thanks. I’m with Plusnet. I am the account holder so would’ve expected the email to come to me. It didn’t although it was correctly addressed Dear David, it was sent to my wife’s email address. I have one of the legacy .me.uk addresses and don’t want to lose that though some technical foul up!

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Very strange. It 'sounds' as though your wife's address is defined as the contact address, but I wouldn't suggest you take that as gospel.

@MisterW  - any thoughts?

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

That would make sense, but this is the first email she’s ever had from Plusnet. Until now they’ve always come to me. Hence my concern.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

OK. As I  don't work for PN, and have no idea how this transfer is being organised, my comments are solely based on what  I see on the forum, and I  could be totally wrong, but years of experience tells me that I am at least partially correct.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Thanks. I appreciate that. Years of working in a large organisation which underwent multiple changes like this taught me that if something could  go wrong it did go wrong despite months of detailed planning. I hope someone from PN will pick up on this. I have a month!

@dgp

I have one of the legacy .me.uk addresses and don’t want to lose that though some technical foul up!

To be clear, Are you saying that you have a .me.uk domain hosted on your Plusnet account ?

My understanding was that accounts with hosted domains will be the last to transfer and certainly not by 31 Oct.

As regards the notification email, I'm not entirly sure but I think its sent to the default mailbox rather than the contact address on the account. That might explain why it went into your wifes mailbox. Was it addressed to <account>@<account>.plus.com or directly to <yourwife>@<account>.plus.com

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

Hi Yes I have one of the me.uk domains given out and hosted by PN when they had their dataleak years ago. The email was sent directly to <yourwife>@<account>.plus.com.

just checked and the default mailbox is <mailbox>@<account>.plus.com.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

You need to determine if that address is the default address on the account - check in the user portal.

Thanks for the confirmation, I've asked someone to check on the migration of your account.

Re: Plusnet email moving to Greenby

We had a similar experience yesterday. My husband received an email about transferring to Greenby on 31st October, but I have not as yet even though I am the account holder. So this was the first email we have had about the move to Greenby, unlike the 60 day and 30 day comms. mentioned in the forum.

I rang Plusnet customer service this morning and asked whether that meant different email addresses would transfer at different timescales. They said that all email addresses would go at once but weI should wait for another 7-10 days by which time other emails would come through. The email my husband received was for a hisname@ouraccountlogin.plus.net .
