Having to split a group into two seems a bit unreasonable in this day and age. Gmail seems to cope OK, and maybe that would be the best way forward in the longer term, which I will need to explore when I am back in the UK.
The error message was the 0x800CCC0F one I referred to earlier. It seems it may be an issue with the VPN I was using [in that case it affected incoming but not outgoing messages]; again only a problem with plusnet mailboxes and not Gmail. Perplexed customer, I am afraid.
Heaven knows what to do with IPhone set up; I won't start on that issue!!!
