@Lordwotsit Dream on - BT  never admit their services/decisions are wrong, even when they patently are - it is always the customers who are -- according to them!

Apologies if I've previously posted this on this thread.

It shows that while the migration is ongoing all Plusnet mail users, migrated or not

are sending by BT/Plusnets SMTP servers.

@Lordwotsit BT are utterly useless, so doesn't surprise me.

This all reminds me of a friend years ago who had his phone line disconnected by BT without warning. He eventually got passed to BT's "Accidental Disconnections Department" to which he pointed out that if a company has so many "accidental disconnections" to warrant an entire department to deal with them, there's clearly a bigger problem.

@john_chandler That is hilarious. All very Brazil.

For now I am sticking with plusnet for isp but nothing else ever after this and my mobile experience. I am moving my domain and emails to mythic beast. Plusnet are even making that painfully slow.

Just what Greenby needs - an "accidental disconnections department" to reinforce its small Support team.

@phil17 - I think we need to set up an ex-pats community for those of us who have moved to Mythic Beasts! If anyone senior from Plusnet/BT is reading this (unlikely) maybe they need to ditch Greenby and speak to them instead 😉

I spoke too soon about not having any issues this week. I've just tried to reply to an urgent email on my plus.com address... and the "too many recipients in the last hour" error is back.

What also concerns me is incoming emails are also disappearing. I’ve had to get two companies to manually change my email to something else, because their confirmatory email to my Plusnet address wasn’t arriving.

That's something I've been wondering about. I've not had any evidence of problems with incoming emails, other than when the whole mail system was hosed recently, but I don't have much trust in Plusnet's email system these days.

Perhaps it's some of the NDR's are linked to this issue:

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

Every morning I send a test email from my globalnet account to a hotmail address of mine.

Having had rejections for several successive days, I was successful at 10.37 yesterday, so sent a number of other emails I needed to get to other microsoft-based addresses.

At 2pm I had the customary 550 5.7.1 failure.

This morning I again have had success!

Is it just a matter of luck whether one's email happens to be sent from a blocked or accepted IP range, or are microsoft reacting to a deluge of c**p whenever they lift their block on Plusnet's servers?

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

I first logged support call 252894860 on 07-Feb-2026 about this issue and then 253007673 on 12-Feb-2026 which was closed on 25-Feb-2026 with the comment being:

Since this was a known issue that netops was working on and we have had no further update from the team regarding it, we will now close this ticket.

As the issue had not been fixed on 04-Mar-2026 I got 252894860 reopened and have added the detail about all the rejections I have received about emails I sent to hotmail.com + hotmail.de.

, Please can you explain why after a month this issue has not been fixed?

Not for me it wasn't.  It's just the luck of the draw, i.e. if your outgoing message happens to go via one of the (seemingly few) PN mail servers that are not blacklisted by MS, all is well.  Most times though the outgoing message is sent via one of the (seemingly many) blacklisted servers and all is not well.

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

It's the "luck of the draw" and it's still broken, my latest two are:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [212.159.14.17] weren't sent.

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [84.93.230.235] weren't sent.

After a Google I also noted "DMARC Missing: Plusnet reportedly lacks proper DMARC entries, leading to stricter filtering by Microsoft." and recall mentioning this in my ticket 250248553  @ 2:27pm on Tuesday 7 Oct 2025, has this been fixed and if not why not?, see https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Re-Cannot-send-any-Plusnet-emails/td-p/2024973

Re: Hotmail rejecting mail from PN [Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1]

In the above post the reason for the failure has been clipped but it usually reads :

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [212.159.14.17] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3140)

These blocked server IP failures differ from the DMARC=Fail rejections seen in the past.
