@accole do you actually have an SPF record ?

No I don't have SPF records set up... was wondering if I needed them though

Re: Help! Emails I'm trying to send to Gmail accounts are bouncing!

@accole it is recommended to have one

You can't create one directly on a Plusnet hosted domain, but if you read this thread https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/How-to-set-spf-DNS-record/m-p/1690951

It gives a workaround to create a standard one on your domain

Re: Help! Emails I'm trying to send to Gmail accounts are bouncing!

I'm still having this problem, with mail to Gmail being bounced back, too. In fact, it seems to be getting worse. Recently, returned messages have this additional text, which I think could be telling:

Reporting-MTA: dns; avasout-peh-004 [212.159.14.20]
Received-From-MTA: dns; inmx-peh-001.plus.net [84.93.238.82]
Arrival-Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2022 08:48:16 +0100

Final-recipient: rfc822; [address]@gmail.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550-5.7.1 [212.159.14.20] Messages missing a valid messageId header are not

Last-attempt-Date: Wed, 21 Sep 2022 08:48:17 +0100

Have escalated back to Plusnet support.

Having the same problem all emails to Gmail addresses are bouncing and getting this message

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed permanently:

 * xxxxxxx@gmail.com

Reason: A message that you sent to the following recipient could not be delivered due to a permanent error. ** The remote server ?? responded with: ** xxxxxxx@gmail.com ??:?? This message was created automatically by mail delivery software on the server .

Hi @Hobo,

Could you private message me the full unredacted bounceback and email headers?

I'll raise to NetOps to investigate for you.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Have been having the same issue for almost 2 months now. Weirdly, only on mobile client - not on desktop, even though the server settings are the same.

Is your mobile client on a device that's connected to the same broadband connection as the desktop or using mobile data?

Same broadband. Broadband or mobile data has no effect. Bouncing regardless.

Have you tried to send the same email content on a mobile device which works on a desktop?

Yes. Always works on desktop - never on mobile.

Hi there, it might be an issue with the mail app on your phone, have you tried sending via webmail.plus.net from your phone just to see if the same thing happens?

There seems to be very little progress on a resolution, is gmail blacklisting plusnet/freenetname?

Re: Help! Emails I'm trying to send to Gmail accounts are bouncing!

@C-P Weirdly, only on mobile client - not on desktop, even though the server settings are the same.

but is the sending email address (identity) the same on the mobile as on the desktop ?

@martinrb are you using your own domain as the from: email address ?

if so where is that domain hosted and does it have an SPF record which allows sending via the PlusNet relay ?
