Greenby migration issues (it's complicated)

I have 4 machines that prior to migration all worked OK with PlusNet.

All use Thunderbird (on auto-update)

A couple of years ago I switched my landline from BT to PlusNet. Things got complicated because as it was a new account I had to have a new e-mail address, but also kept the existing one.

2 PCs and a new laptop all run Windows 11, the old laptop runs Windows 10.

One of the PCs has the new e-mail address, but the other PC and the laptops use the old e-mail address.

The only machine to get the migration message was the old laptop on Win 10. This currently works OK (allbeit slowly)

The PC with the new email address, didn't get a migration message but appears to work OK.

The new laptop and the other PC (both Win11) won't do anything as thunderbird keeps asking for the new password. But I don't have a new password.

I have tried Greenby but it doesn't recognise my log-in details and when I ask to reset my password and give it an e-mail address nothing turns up.

I really would like to get the WIN11 machines that can't connect operational so i can retire the old laptop (and maybe install Linux.)

Any help appreciated thanks.

Re: Greenby migration issues (it's complicated)

I've had no end of issues with email since the migration to Greenby.
Mail initially worked fine on iPhone - but has stopped sending in the last week.
Outlook won't allow sends under any circumstances.
Thunderbird allows sends with port 25.
Receiving email doesn't seem to be an issue.
I'm trying to resolve with Greenby support but they think it's just a password issue and keep suggesting doing resets which achieve nothing - which it clearly isn't - so its either an SMPT user name issue (which I think it the probable route) or the SMPT password is for some reason different and not resetting.
Hopefully Greenby support will resolve soon or I'll have to ditch their service as not being able to send emails from phone and outlook is a real pain.

Looking into this, if your profile is right, you haven't moved to Greenby.

That said, your standard settings should still work - default username, password (or username+mailbox) mail.plus.net etc.

Re: Greenby migration issues (it's complicated)

Hi plusnettony

On 11th December 2025 I received two emails from Greenby saying I had been successfully migrated to Greenby.

So you are now telling me this incorrect and I'm still with PlusNet ?

If so why did two of my machines stop being able to collect or send emails and demand my new password on the following day and haven't worked since ?

The machines I can use for emails still connect to a plusnet address.

I'm in the middle of trying to buy a house and this is a complication I don't need.

Do you have multiple accounts? If you want to PM me your username (I can check it's the same one I checked previously) and advise further.
