Greenby - email folder confusion since migration

Since the migration sent/deleted eMails appear in different folders when using different email clients (IMAP)

  • Prior to the email migration I had all folders "standalone" (separate) from the inbox folder (including some specific rule-based folders I'd set up to redirect certain emails) and everything worked as expected when using multiple eMail clients on different platforms.
  • Since the migration there are now subfolders for drafts/sent/trash as subfolders under inbox, plus the original standalone folders
    • using clients such as Outlook on the PC things seem to end up in the inbox subfolders eg the 1 sent item in that folder
    • however using for instance Gmail client on the phone things happen as they did pre-migration, with the sent items ending up in the standalone sent folder eg the multiple sent items in that folder
  • This has only started happening since the migration - from memory there were never inbox subfolders like there are now

I can't see any settings to standardise the locations where things are saved, so it's a pain finding where items have ended up.

Any ideas...?

Re: Greenby - email folder confusion since migration

Sounds like Outlook has auto detected the sent folder under inbox and decided to use that. There will be an option in Outlook to specify the folder that sent messages are saved into. I know there certainly is in Thunderbird.
Are you using the free outlook with windows or Outlook with office 365?
The Gmail client will have remembered your setting pre migration and just carried on.

Thanks @Jamous - I'm actually using a (very old) version of Outlook which came as part of Microsoft Office Professional, so this may not have all the current bells & whistles, but has worked without any issues until the migration

Re: Greenby - email folder confusion since migration

Ahh yes I remember that one with the gold icon. I use office 2003, but have not installed Outlook as used thunderbird.
Hmm, is there anything under tools and email options? From a quick search it looks like Green by might be flagging the sent items folder under Inbox as the true sent items. The below says to turn off saving sent emails and create a rule to store it after sending in the folder of your choice. Bit of a bodge...

I've actually solved it now, with the help of @MisterW - details posted in an earlier thread I'd created here https://community.plus.net/t5/Email/Greenby-email-IMAP-deleted-emails-purged-no-longer-available-in/...
