Greenby down again again?

Just started getting the request for password in thunderbird which usually indicates greenby/plusnet server down/problem.  Anyone else?

Phil

PS  Last time things were flaky I ended up checking my greenby account and found the spam filtering was blocking emails from the plusnet community!  Ironic?  Reduced the level to 9 but not quite off (from memory) and started adding filters for the odd persistent scammer.

Re: Greenby down again again?

Yes Greenby OK (Out for a Kip) again.

Task 'xxxx@plus.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR internal server error'

Webmail:
RC error: Login failed, please check your credentials.

Yep, similar story here, started to get rejections maybe half hour ago.

Re: Greenby down again again?

@wphil I think think the mail servers have gone belly-up again - none of my (not-migrated) PN  accounts will connect. Unfortunately, support, on here, and the call centre have logged off for the day.

Re: Greenby down again again?

The mail servers are still playing up - all four of my addresses failed with the 'please enter password for account xxxx@xxxx.plus.com' on initial check, worked OK 10 minutes later, failed 10 minutes after that. Fortunately, most contacts have been transferred to  a proper service, but not all.

Re: Greenby down again again?

@shapter That is a slightly different error - I could not even connect to the server.

Re: Greenby down again again?

From comparing everyone's replies to my own access (or not) it seems that it is not an all or nothing thing.  Some of us could be okay while others are not and vice versa.  Hard to check this so do others agree with my observation?

Re: Greenby down again again?

I've moved my email out of harm's way (to Mythic Beasts), but left my email client (Evolution) still checking for Plusnet / Greenie email. I started getting the "enter password" error so just switched off email collection from these losers.

For all those still attempting to use this email "service", maybe in the hope that it might get better, my top tip would be "don't" 😉

My transition to Greenby has been relatively seamless and it is working OK for me. But, I am an exclusive user of the Webmail interface, not POP or IMAP, and only ever had a standard Plusnet email account.

One thing I notice is that the Greenby system can sometimes by fairly slow, so I wonder if this could be contributing to problems for some, by causing timeouts for POP/IMAP users? Can client program settings be adjusted to allow for this?

Re: Greenby down again again?

I'm using the default of MS Outlook 90 seconds timeouts and recently ( Monday ) migrated accounts are working fine via POP3S / IMAPS / SMTPS.    Email programs do allow server timeouts to modified, but if a server has not started responding in 90 seconds it is likely broken.

What is yet to appear in our  Greenby email admin portal is the list of our email accounts for our Plusnet domain.
I've started a ticket on this & await an answer.
