Re: Greenby dashboard

Being disabled and in the last stages with a terminal disease and totally housebound, I am on my iMac computer using Safari 10 or more times a day, After I finish I always clear history so my cache is always empty. So thanks for trying to help.

Hi John, I clear my history after every time I use my computer, so my cache is always empty. Thanks.

I have been with Plusnet for 20 years, trouble free and excellent service, yet I am moving to another broadband server when my contract ends in October. The sole reason is because of Greenby.com email service. Since Greenby.com took over in January this year, I have had nothing but problem after problem with them

As no other ISP offers a free  Email service one must assume that the only reason for moving ISP would be to put yourself through the bother to 'punish' Plusnet for taking this action.

As you have had '20 years, trouble free and excellent service', in doing this one must hope that the transfer goes smoothly and your new ISP gives you correspondingly good service. There's an old adage that goes along the lines: one should not cut off their nose to spite their face'.

If you are unhappy with Greenby, whilst it's a pain to change email addresses, it can be done over a period. There is plenty of choice of alternative free options, or for less than £30 per year (and a bit more hassle) you can have your own personal domain and email hosting service. This can be moved to other hosting companies should you so wish without affecting the addresses..

Changing ISP can not address concerns with Greenby, so begs the question : What is the actual gripe ?

Do remember closure of an email a/c accessed via IMAP or WebMail terminates access to the email history.

Good question. One concern that changing an email address could address is spam emails - at least temporarily(?).

But, as I have said before on here, IMO there is no real evidence (beyond coincidence) that the transfer to Greenby is the primary cause of the spam problems people now suffer after transfer to Greenby. The evidence against is that transfer to Greenby has caused no such problems for people not suffering spam issues.

Of course, as above, a change of email address - caused by a transfer to another email provider - remains one approach to stopping the spam at their current address. Personally I'd still prefer to try and solve the underlying issue, if at all possible.

One argument in favour of using POP with an email client?

Possibly, or you can simply copy the contents of the relevant IMAP folders to 'safe' local ones, which can be  performed manually or automatically, depending on your email client.

That's true! I had also temporarily forgotten that you can indeed download messages and mailboxes to your device via the Plusnet/Greenby Roundcube webmail interface.

I'm not the person you to whom you put that question, but in my case once my email transfers to Greenby I'll move to a new broadband provider, despite being with PN since 2009 (I think) because because for less money than PN want or full fibre, I can get full fibre with a VOIP phone from a different provider.
