Greenby awol again?

Another nice sunny day in London and Greenby has gone missing again.

Classic Outlook:

Task 'xxxx@xxxx.plus.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : 'Your email server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password for this account in Account Settings. The server responded: -ERR [SYS/TEMP] Temporary authentication failure. [dovecot-director-4:2026-04-14 12:19:51]'

Webmail:

504 Gateway Time-out
The server didn't respond in time.

Also no connection to the Greenby hosted mail servers.

Re: Greenby awol again?

Haven't noticed any problems this morning, but I'm frequently getting mail receiving failures and authentication errors and repeated requests to sign in to my account. It's quite annoying. I use Outlook (old) on my desktop and also Outlook on my phone.

Re: Greenby awol again?

On a slightly separate note, is it possible to move my Plusnet address to another email provider.  I suspect not but thought I'd ask.

No.

In other words, if you want to retain your PN address your only choice it to weather this migration storm in the hope that once it's complete, things will be no worse than before it all started.

Re: Greenby awol again?

Thanks for that, I've had my PN email address for 11  years and don't want to change it but I'll have to stick it out and hope, as you suggest, they get their act together, especially when we move to having to pay.

Re: Greenby awol again?

@WorldMachine I've had my metronet address for pushing 30 years I think (it goes back to the days of dial-ups, metered bills by the megabyte, and firstname@ email addresses),  so exceedingly reluctant to take the plunge and change.  I've been migrated now for over 7 momths,  with a stick-with-it-and-hope mindset;   however the service is as chaotic now as it was back in September,  with no evidence that Greenby are stabilising things.  It's not fit for purpose,  and its directors and staff are in hiding.  I do need to get my act together and move elsewhere.

Re: Greenby awol again?

Similar here - our plusnet addresses go back to ADSL first becoming available in the village. We must have 100+ accounts linked to those addresses and switching to a new address is unthinkable. It really is too bad that Plusnet has off-loaded customers to a provider I'd never heard of, with a service to match. A service which will incur a cost next year and we're still under contract with Plusnet who no longer provide the service we signed up for.

Re: Greenby awol again?

I saw someone ask on another thread if Greenby had any other customers apart from plusnets.  I read online that Greenby was set up only for plusnet customers. I don’t think that looks good for the future. How many didn’t sign up in the first place for the Greenby transfer, how many have since left, how many are they losing now.  I did start looking for a second account and got as far as Proton but then the troubles seemed to settle.
