Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I posted saying I’d had 7 welcome emails from Greenby…

This morning I had another 2 – am I getting special treatment – or is everybody getting these???

Does this mean that I really have been utterly, totally and completely migrated???

“We’re excited to welcome you to Greenby, the new home for your email service! The migration of your email has been successfully completed”

No, everyone is not getting them.  I haven't had a single email from Greenby, but I discovered that I had been migrated back in December when I recently went onto the Greenby site out of curiosity.  I'm still using Plusnet as if it was still Plusnet.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi,

After getting, was it seven emails from Greenby over a period of weeks, congratulating me for being migrated, when I log in to Greenby.com I get:-

"Your Greenby login will only be activated after your migration is complete. We'll notify you by email as soon as it's ready."

It does let me in tho...

I get that too, even though I am migrated. I have to refresh the wbmail page and/or log-in two or three times before it opens up.

Which does not inspire confidence...

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

@PNnewbie

I have had four Welcome emails at different times over the last 2 months. I queried this with Greenby, who said:

You have received the welcome mail because we have tried multiple migrations. I can see migration attempts are made on the dates you have mentioned. The migration is complete and if you are facing any issues, please let us know.

It seems like your account was tagged for migration again mistakenly.

I suggest you raise a ticket and ask Greenby.

Note that you may get duplicate emails at the same time to two different addresses.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Anyone had these problems with Greenby???

Greenby cannot efficiently handle group emails

When with Plusnet I could send my weekly round-robin email to ten of my friends - as a group email and this went on for years without error.with Plusnet.

Now with Greenby, just one or two of the 'same' group get through. The rest - lost in the ether? I then phone around: "did you get my email?" NO is the reply from 7 or 8 other recipients. On a support ticket, Greenby have admitted the 'group email' problem and are looking into it.

Greenby cannot deliver emails to Apple email addresses

Such as: icloud.com and @me.com - where I get the message: 'rejected due to local policy' - AND Greenby admitted to me on a support ticket that this is so.

Which brings me to the same question, many of us have asked over the past few months: 'Did Plusnet thoroughly research Greenby as a viable and efficient email service? I fear not - as Greenby simply does not work.

Yes, I had exactly that; only some recipients getting the emails when I was Cc-ing to several.  I wasted a lot of time trying to find out why it was happening.

This issue, and the other time consuming problems with Greenby, is why I gave up and switched to Mythic Beasts (and with my own domain).

It's been a breath of fresh air. Not only does the email work as it should, but configuration is very flexible, and when I had two questions, I just emailed Mythic Beasts support... and got an email response from a real human.

Yes, I'm paying for email hosting 2 years earlier than I would if I'd stuck with Greenby - but my time and having a reliable service is worth way more than the £20/year I'm paying.

As others have said, there is now no reason to stay tied to Plusnet in the future, so I'll definitely shop around other ISPs.  Own goal Plusnet.

Do we know Greenby is going to let us keep our plusnet email addresses in two years when they start charging? If not then we will all start shopping around.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Re group emails working, you have to scratch your head at that!

I can't believe unless they are mental they have coded up a buggy mail server in 2025/6 themself?

So if they haven't, you'd ASSUME they would be using an existing one that did something as basic as that ... that mail servers have been doing since.. the 80s? 70s? Whatever. Why would something so basic not work?

And if it's not a bug, it must be a "policy" or something, to maybe stop bulk email misuse? (I think I've seen that once in the distant past). If it's a policy, surely a very easy fix? You have to scratch your head don't you!

As a workaround, if you can access another SMTP server that allows this, you might be able to "send" from your plusnet account address using a non plus net SMTP. Basically you have the "from" as your plusnet email. Some SMTP don't like this as it's what spammers might use, but many do, it's what I've done for my domain using plusnet in the past, for example.

Once your free period expired, you can continue to use your plus.com email address at the new rate.

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Hi Tony @plusnettony

I wanted to reply but not in answer to your reply to the other member/user.

I have been away/out of the loop for a few weeks and I have found nothing but repetition of the original issues I reported that in part are legacy from before the migration to Greenby.

These are duplications of POP3 emails downloaded by Outlook Office

Oh, thousands of Spam that I have now deleted yet again i.e. many were were such duplicates Sad

One saving grace(?) is that unlike some other users I do seem to get the important emails coming through Smiley ?

Oh, a spam related ticket I raised at Greenby many many weeks ago has still to be answered by human agent Sad

Lastly(?) no amount of Outlook filtering and/or Greenby settings of moderate nature seem to stem or even stop the Spam, which as mentioned is still coming through to a few specific mailboxes.

Do you think there is any chance that Greenby can and will 'get their act together' and provide the quality of service & support that we enjoyed with your PN Towers colleagues.......................I know that you cannot answer that one.............but it would be nice to have some confidence in Greenby of which there is on my limited compared to some other users that post in this thread.

TIA Smiley

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

PS to the above

I forgot to add that bearing in mind that my migration (apparently?) completed some weeks back!

The amazing number of repeated 'Welcome to Greenby' emails ~ why???

32 of them, all multiples (of few of each) of the same time & date stamp between 3rd Feb and the 17th Feb 2026

Re: Greenby Webmail Flakey

Well, I have just seen 6 of my mailboxes with POP3 errors

One reports

08000CCC0F

The other 5 report

08000CCC92

Now, this may have happened in the past (in fact I am sure the odd occasion I have seen one or two such errors) but don't recall such a hit or errors and can only hope that 'they' sort them selves out by the morning???
