Does BTinternet mail still work when moving to PLUSNET

Hi,  I have BTINTERNET "premium" mail which basically means I can access it through apps (IMAP and SMTP).  Basic mail is only available via a webmail page in the browser.  BT says that anyone moving from BTInternet will have their mail downgraded to Basic mail.

Sounds fair enough if leaving BT, but my question is what happens when choosing Plusnet (or EE for that matter).  As these are still "BT", does the BTInternet still continue to work via IMAP/SMTP?

Is any action needed with either BT or Plusnet to make sure it continues?

Thanks

Jonathan

Sorry I can't help with BT Premium but I quit BT over a decade ago when they tried to charge £1.50 per month for their lousy Yahoo email which was being hacked every other week or so it seemed. My Plusnet BB has been excellent but I was surprised that my xxxxx@btinternet address has worked ever since both TX and RX on Thunderbird.

All the BT retail ISPs are independent retail businesses, so do not expect any curry or favour.  With most ISPs when you leave you lose everything associated with the broadband account.

Such facilities are just internet hosted services so if they are not closed, you’ll still be able to access them … just like you can over your mobile network.

You need to clarify what the basic service offers.
