The only thing that Ihas upset me about the new forums is that on the old +net ones I had a random image avatar, but that is not possible here.:-((

Force 9 was the parent company not the other way around, PlusNet is the baby company of the 2 plus, PlusNet is from the USA, Force 9 is and was a UK company.

I may be wrong, and I am sure that someone from +net will correct me if I am.
Plusnet has always been the parent company. It was the original brand name for corporate and business users. Force 9 was the brand name for residential users.
It was when either Surftime, FRIACO or Broadband started  (cant remember which exactly) that plusnet in its present guise came to the fore because at that time the  the above products where only available via +net.
That is what I have always been led to believe anyway.

If I guessed Force 9 has less than 50,000 users and Plusnet more than 150,000 users would I be far out?

That's not information I would be able to disclose as it is commercially sensitive.
There are considerably more PlusNet customers than Force9, however.

OK here are some figures that are publicly available:
If you go in to the portal for each of the vISPs (using the testdrive login) and go to the old forums you can see the number of registered users. When a user visits the forums they were automatically registered, but not all users ever visited the forums - I'd guess it was less than half. However the numbers would give a fair representation of the proportion of users on each vISP.
