Replies being dumped through posts being moved.

Excuse me for venting my frustration but I am thoroughly fed up with writing a reply to a post then when I try to post it find that not only has the original post been moved but my work has simply been dumped. My choices are then to either start again or just give up.

Is there no way that such replies cannot either be saved as drafts when posts are moved or for the Moderators to monitor whether there is a reply in progress and leave the post in place until all is quiet?

Unfortunately the answer is no on all counts Sad
Ye olde forums software used to notify us, but this one doesn't.

Apologies, but it's utterly out of our control.

@dvorak

I was venting my frustration, not blaming you.

I guess the best solution if a post is obviously going to be moved is to produce a reply on a word processor such as Word and copy and paste the completed reply across to the reply field. That way it can be repasted if the post is moved.

Or can you just go back on your browser? How often is the reply saved?

Re: Replies being dumped through posts being moved.

I've come a cropper with that a few times @Baldrick1 and I agree it's particularly annoying if the reply is more than a few words, but rather than compose a post in a word processor I try and remember to copy my entire composition to the clipboard at regular intervals before hitting 'Post'.

I think draughts are saved by the forum software every five minutes, and having just checked before posting this, I've copied below what had been saved so far;

That would just make it cold in the winter - saving drafts would be more useful.  😉
