Newbie?

What is this all about, I feel as if I am being mocked for daring to make a post.

Hi @janelizabeth57

Sorry but I don't see anyone mocking you.

Maybe you could tell us what your issue is, broadband, phone etc

@janelizabeth57

Fear not, it's just a forum 'rank' alluding to the general internet way of using the term 'newbie' to indicate anyone just starting in - well, just about anything.

This post   https://community.plus.net/t5/Community-Site-Feedback/forum-ranks/m-p/1325393

may provide some illumination.

Re: Newbie?

@janelizabeth57 Fear not, newbie !.... as already said..... it is just because you are "new" to the forum,.... as @198kHz said... you see he is a mere "Aspiring Champion"... whereas, I am a ....  "Community Veteran"... because I have been here a long time... ( 10 years now.... )

I suppose I should feel insulted, by being called a Veteran... but then... I am 3 score years and 10+  ! !  Cheesy

Welcome to the forum.... Generally, it is a friendly place... and sometimes we have been known to have lots of fun, with outrageous puns, and silly jokes

Re: Newbie?

It does raise a interesting point though.

Why is it necessary to have this type of title ? What purpose does it serve.

The number of posts gives a better indication of how much interaction a user has had.

Re: Newbie?

Surely, in order to make the ranking system fair it should be, say, 10 points for a fix, 2 for a thanks, and 1 for just a post.

Can we back date this, so I'm owed 88.25 chocolate bars. I'll settle for 88. Grin
