I had a look for this earlier but couldn't find the reference in particular. Could I have specific links so that I can raise issues with the relevant people?
I've also seen dependant which is a proper word, but dependent was meant; I think that was in this excellent article. :-X My memory jogger is that "a(u)nts are people" to help get that right.
Ahh yes. Naughty, James - 'dependant' is the noun, as in 'the mother has two dependants', whilst 'dependent' is the adjective, as in 'the children are dependent on their mother'. :P
Isn't the English language wonderful? "Eats Shoots and Leaves" is probably the best present anyone ever bought me. It showed me it was ok to care that the language is used properly ;D
