I'm now on pcl-ag05 after a power cut earlier this morning.
Did you notice your latency drop?

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

I've seen the minimum latency change when gateway hopping. I don't think it's related to people's connection though, just a different route through BT's network.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

I'd forgotten that. Are any particular gateways consistently good or bad?

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Well, that would all depend on your location and what way through the BT network you get sent. In other words test it out yourself.  Tongue

The problem isn't really over here shure, it's at thinkbroadband.  When your IP address changes there is nothing that tells them that, so they keep pinging that old address. So in time, if you are not deleting them when your address changes there will be several going.
Someone else here will get one of them, and someone else another and so on, as Plusnet regard them as free. This still doesn't matter too much, though if a few hundred people have 5 "dead" ones running it must be a bit messy over there.  But what if someone with one of those wants a BQM?
They won't be able to see the one you set up, as it is on their tbb username. And they won't be able to set one up because it's already in use on the tbb system.
The best thing for monitoring your connection is RouterStats (or RouterStats Lite is easier - further down the page).

Fair enough.  I've disabled my previous TBB graphs, just have the current one running.  I take it once they're disabled or deleted they go back in the pot, as it were, as far as TBB is concerned?

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

When they are disabled they remain allocated to your user name - so you could re-enable them if desired. If they are deleted they probably could be allocated to a different user, though that's just my guess.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Is your modem/router set to accept incoming pings, because it doesn't look like it?

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

Just of note, there's quite a lot of packet loss showing on some of the graphs this morning.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

I've just been speaking to the networks guys about this, it's most likely due to the router maintenance this morning. http://usertools.plus.net/status/archive/1359980230.htm
When we rebooted it following the maintenance it causes all the users on it to be kicked and therefore reconnect on the other gateways, which in turn have a little packet loss. We'll get them in balance over the day today.
There's potentially something else afoot which we're investigating at the moment.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

I see that I was disconnected 2x in the early hours while I was away in the land of nod. Cool Sadly it's bumped me to ptw-ag01, or is this OK now? My speeds are certainly up this morning, if that has anything to do with it.

Re: TBB Ping Graphs

The period of packet loss this morning was due to an core router interface flapping.  Resolved now.
Did any of you guys see actual impact from it?  Just interested.
