To get the test 3 to work, you need to run the normal BT test and go through the further diagnostics page, it will say there are problems with you line and press continue to run further tests. It then gives you the TAP3 login details, you login, press continue then the test works.

Yup as I have done countless times previously. I run the speedtest ( logged in and connected with my plusnet login ), then the second part ( logged in and connected with my plusnet login ) , then enter the speedtest login, as requested, then click continue and get the following...
Thanks for attempting to help though, it's appreciated  Wink

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hmm that's weird. Are you using your own DNS server details? Also, I'd give a few mins after pressing connect to then run the next stage of the test,

Re: Peak time latency spikes

I've tried default, google, open dns and several others.
Same result.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

If you give it another shot, might be worth trying one of the IPs rather than domain:
Name:      Test3.speedtest.btwholesale.com
Address 1: 193.113.4.154
Address 2: 193.113.4.153
Address 3: 193.113.8.194
Address 4: 193.113.8.193

Re: Peak time latency spikes

They all time out.
Tap3 will run just fine with the plusnet login but not at all with the speedtest login.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

That's annoying.  Angry
Best add these to the TAP3 test thread.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Just popped to a friends house and kidnapped their HH3, and Tap3 won't run on that either. Not on this pc, my girlfriends desktop or her laptop.
Fed up with banging my head against a wall, off to bed.
Thanks for trying to help though  Smiley
ptn-ag01 via my friends HH3 ( their connection was perfectly fine too, before I borrowed the router anyway )

I think Finguz had a fault last time we looked at it?   Not sure if that was resolved?  We'll check tomorrow again!

There was no fault, it is just the speed issue. The engineer did every conceivable test and my line is just fine.
The plusnet tech guy thought there was an issue because of multiple router disconnects, but that was me hopping to try and find a useable connection. I then disconnected and reconnected my modem a couple of times in a 12 - 24 hour period and hosed my profile, which has now been reset.

@Finguz
When you connect to the BT test realm your router will be assigned the BT DNS servers that are accessible on the test network. None of the "normal" DNS services are accessible on this network. So your router should not be assigned a fixed DNS service (it will get this by DHCP during the PPP login). And likewise the PC you are using to run the test should also not have a fixed DNS service. I assume your router acts as the DHCP server for your network, so it should assign a DNS server address to the PC - it will probably assign its own address and it will then relay the DNS traffic to the BT servers that it has been assigned. You'll probably need to make sure you have everything set up this way before you start the first test with your Plusnet login (which will assign the Plusnet DNS server addresses to your router for the first 2 stages).

Re: Peak time latency spikes

If you mean that my pc and router should be set to obtain DNS servers automatically, then that is what I meant by default.

Now this is odd. Speed still low this morning  Undecided
Normal speed would be..

Re: Peak time latency spikes

What does it say here for your line speed? https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=data_transfer_speed
**Edit**
Do you have a TBB graph set up too?
Btw...I found slow downs (exchange congestion) 9:30-10:30  14:00-15:00  16:00-17:30  20:00-21:30  - the worst for me was the 16:00-17:30 period which I assume was the school kids streaming/p2p etc.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Morning Andy!

Plusnet profile  @ 74MB.
I have to admit that it is looking like congestion, but whatever it is, it is completely unusable after 8:30 pm.
