Re: Peak time latency spikes

@AndyH
Is there any improvement on your speeds?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hi,
Thought I'd post in this thread to say that I am also affected by the slow speeds and high ping during peak hours, to see if a Plusnet support member could be of assistance at all with this matter?  I have included below the lastest speed test result from speedtester.bt.com earlier this afternoon my connection was testing at a solid 73mbps down and 17mbs up.  I have also experienced speedtest results as low as 20mbps with the BT speed tester. I am quite sure that there is no issues at my end as the line is clear with no noise and my speeds are normal during the day until around 4pm.

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.
Download Speed
33.03 Mbps

0 Mbps 77.44 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Download speedachieved during the test was - 33.03 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 16 Mbps-77.44 Mbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is - 77.44 Mbps
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
13.89 Mbps

0 Mbps 20 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 13.89Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps

@ wizkid66
Which gateway are you on (you can check here: http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway)?

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Hello all fellow sufferers
I too have been diagnosed with this affliction that occurs at peak time! Still reading the pages of info on this thread.....
My normal 12mbps d/l speed tends to disappear between the hours of 19:00 and 22:30 - I have had BTW test of 0.06mbps recently - it took 10 mins to open the BTW test window! Its like the internet just stopped.
Tonights speed is about 1.8Mbps running on PCL - AG02 but it varies so much. So much for Bf3 end game till the off peak hours

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@AndyH
If you do a traceroute to speedtest.net do you get the same ~40ms latency (I think you're on a Mac so the default traceroute method should be UDP rather than ICMP). Your latency seems to be starting to increase.
The recently posted traceroutes from people suffering this problem seem to confirm the problem is within the PN network and not the BTW backhaul (which has been suspected also).

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Currently on gateway ptn-ag03 and have had to give up xboxlive as there is so much lag it is unusable.  I suspect this is as a result of the packet loss on the TBB graph:

Same problem with speedtest as before, the speed stays very low <2Mb/s until the end of the test where it peaks to the result you see:

The pingtest suggests all is not well!

I want to carry on my xbl session so if you need to run any tests/try anything please can you do it in the next 5 minutes.  Thanks.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Just jumped to pcl-ag04 which is worse than a cracker joke:

No TBB graph as I'm not staying on this gateway, it's as much use as a chocolate fireguard:

Jumping again...
