Re: Peak time latency spikes

pcl-ag03 isn't looking too good:

BT Checker
Download Speed (Mbps): 23.1
Upload Speed (Mbps): 13.55
Ping Latency (ms) 100.88
Strange thing is downloads are poor (tried some large files on university mirrors) as are the speed tests, but pings are fine:
Ping statistics for 212.159.13.50 (bbc.co.uk):
   Packets: Sent = 100, Received = 100, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 4ms, Maximum = 6ms, Average = 4ms
Ping statistics for 23.62.53.114 (ntp.plus.net):
   Packets: Sent = 50, Received = 50, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
   Minimum = 4ms, Maximum = 12ms, Average = 4ms

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Currently on ptw-ag03 and have what I would best describe as lumpy speed and packet loss.  The speedtest graph stays flat then peaks and drops back again.  Same with upload speed.  Pingtest shows no packet loss, but TBB graph is showing quite a few red peaks this evening, suggesting there is packet loss.  I am going to try hopping to a different gateway to solve this as I will be on XBL later and any packet loss will make it unusable.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

AndyH - going to run some tests on your connection first, will make a change at exactly 8pm to see if that makes any difference (just for you and anyone else on pcl-ag03) so if you can let me know before and after that would be appreciated.
PS: don't disconnect Smiley

Well I don't think there's anything inherently up with pcl-ag02 because it's still perfectly fine for me.

Re: Peak time latency spikes

Speedtest from BT Wholesale tester taken at 20:00  BBC Iplayer streaming in low bandwidth constant buffering itv player just buffers and fails to load content.
Still currently connected to gateway pcl-ag02 same gateway as i was on last night .

Re: Peak time latency spikes

@purleigh & @KevinG
This isn't the first time that different people on the same Gateway have had major differences.
Don't know if posting a traceroute to say ntp.plus.net would show anything.
