Widespread fault affecting all BT based connections in the Birmingham area?

Currently on Plusnet FTTC (which has been rock solid for 5 years to date).

We lost connectivity at almost bang on midnight last night. Still showing connection up on the modem to the exchange, but router not able to start PPPOE session so I assumed an authentication issue with Plusnet.

Started the diagnostic text process and told there is an issue on our line, but nothing more. Called Customer Service and told there is an issue affecting the Erdington exchange (which isn't ours - I believe we are on the Priory Exchange -CMPRI) and that it won't be potentially fixed until 19:00 tomorrow and that it will be affecting all Openreach based connections in Birmingham - yet it doesn't seem to be affecting our neighbours who are Openreach VDSL through other providers.

On the Zen Openreach fault page there is a fault open for Erdington (BT599) and Sutton Coldfield (BT635 - which is resolved), but nothing for our exchange or the fault code given by the CS Rep - which was 597 (IMT597/26).

Is anyone else in the Birmingham area having the same issues? I'm wary that our issue might just have been categorised under that when it isn't the actual fault.

Is this still down?

@James_B - is this on the forum team’s radar?
