Why do I get 10GB limit for lowest price, but not unlimited?

I signed up for Plusnet yesterday. I hope its good.
I went for the 10GB in the end, because I can pay £5.99 for my entire contract.
At first I wanted the unlimited package, but realised that the price goes up to £15.99 after 3months.
Why is it that I can get one package at the lowest price, but not the other?

Welcome,
but unfortunately, thats the way the Cookie crumbles, thats why it is called a Value package.  I take it you are in a market three exchange area?

I don't know if I am in the market three area. How do I find out?
I know broadband availability is not good at my exchange. This is probably the best package I could find. Whenever something good turns up, it disappears in an instant.
I am going to miss not having unlimited broadband  Cry I have to cut down on my downloads. The only thing I am going to use my internet for is Call of Duty 4 and thats probaby it now.

I think its £15.99 after for everyone? I am not sure though.
Is Plusnet reliable? Should I expect a good connection for the majority of the time? I was with sky since the broadband launched and never had a problem with it, I just wish this is the same.

To find out info about your line look here http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/adslchecker.php, you will find out if you are market, 1 2 or 3 at the  bottom left
Plusnet Value broadband starts at £5.99 a month for the first 3 months. If you live in one of our low cost areas you'll then pay this price every month. If you live outside of one of these areas you'll then pay £11.99 a month thereafter.
All downloads from Midnight to 08:00 are free and not in your 10G limit

Re: Why do I get 10GB limit for lowest price, but not unlimited?

Thanks for that.
I never knew about the midnight-08.00. So I can download anything I need to overnight.
The test shows this.
Exchange: Poplar.  BT Code: LNPOP
Location: Wset India Dock Road, E14 8EZ
Distance:- Direct:    780 metres
  (appx)* By Road: 1.45 km
  Status
ADSL enabled : March 31, 2000
DSL Max enabled: March 31, 2006
SDSL enabled : Enabled
21CN due : (PSTN) No Info
21CN WBC (Broadband) Not available
Broadband Access Market Broadband Access† Market 3
Don't really know what that means, but when I did the test on the PN website it said I only have to pay £5.99, so thats sorted.

it means you are a lucky person.
The Market 1,2,3 were brought about by BTWholesale and have a reduced price where they have competition at your local exchange, Market 3 gets a good deal.

Is there any limit to how much I can download between midnight and 8am? Sorry about all the questions, just making sure so I don't get charged extra.

Nope, Plusnet used to state a guideline figure of 100GB but as far as I'm aware people have gone over that and no-one's ever been given even a quiet word in their ear about it.

Im not going to go any where near half that, but it is nice to know that I can download at night without having to worry about any extra charges.
Thanks for all the help everyone. My PN broadband should be up in a few days.

Are you talking about this http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/quality_broadband/speed.shtml
I did read that. Looks like gaming is given priority, which is all I really need my broadband for.

One last question. It says my broadband order will complete on 22nd August. Will my Router arrive beofre that or the following week?
Is the router any good? or should I look at buying one myself?
