Testing the line

Hi, my broadband has been not working properly since Monday. I have been instructed to plug into the master socket after taking the cover off. It’s been like that for a few days now. Today the speed has shot up. Can I now replace the cover and put back my router to its original place. The Ethernet leads need to be reconnected.

thanks David

Re: Testing the line

Hi @Lddeare, thanks for getting in touch and I'm sorry to hear you've been having speed issues as of recent but I'm glad to hear the speeds look to be looking back to normal for you now. If the speeds have returned to normal then I'd return the router back to it's original set-up and see if the speed issues look ot return. If so then this hints it could be the faceplate, internal wiring or extension wiring which may be behind the issue all of which the test socket setup rules out. Let us know how it goes and if the speed issues look to persist.
