Speed permanently lowered

We have the 80/20 package and as of a few weeks ago we've been capped or throttled at 13 Mbps.

Re: Speed permanently lowered

TP-Link Archer VR600 v3.   Tried restarts etc, checking QoS settings.  There is of course the heatwave to consider but I thought it might not hurt to also check if there is anything the plusnet end on our settings.

Re: Speed permanently lowered

OK. I was hoping you were going to say a PN Hub2.

As you didn't, please report a fault via: https://www.plus.net/help/report-a-problem/

Re: Speed permanently lowered

checking QoS settings

Disable QoS on a domestic grade router, it can degrade the speed.

The 13 Mb/s was measured how e.g. via Wi-Fi at the end of the garden or on a direct network cable to the router ?

Re: Speed permanently lowered

We have had the QoS settings for at least two years now without this problem and we do need them.  Like I say it's not been a problem before

Re: Speed permanently lowered

As asked above, is this via a wired or wireless speed test? Your connection stats suggest you should be getting close to the max speed.

Re: Speed permanently lowered

@ExForce9 I don't know what relevance that has if this is a recent speed reduction?

Re: Speed permanently lowered

Both ethernet and wifi...  which is actually a bit odd if the test is from device to test server.  Even though we do have some pretty good wifi

Re: Speed permanently lowered

Are you testing on a wired connection, @IngeJones ?

Have you reported the issue?

As i said above, you are reporting a near perfect connection speed on a good line, so something is awry.

does your router have a useful event log?

@IngeJones

As you have a static IP, then it is possible that your Plusnet "Current Line Speed" profile has got out of step with the Openreach BRAS profile, and could cause the restriction of speed that you are experiencing.

If you login to the Plusnet Member Centre,  what does your "Current Line Speed" say that is set to ?

Re: Speed permanently lowered

Yes I got a call back from them just now and we're pretty sure it's not something set wrong plusnet's end.  I have a few more things I can try - including testing with a different router

@IngeJones

Assuming that your connection is on FASTPATH (i.e. not interleaved) your Plusnet "Current Line Speed" should be around 77300Kbps
