Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

I just did the whole broadband help guide again and reset the router. I do leave it on all the time, sometimes it needs a reset maybe once or twice a year. Resetting has no effect on the internet speed.

OK - it's just that your uptime looked low.

Your reported connection speed looks amazingly high for an ADSL connection though - are you sure you're not on Fibre?

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

Nope you're definitely on ADSL, but those speeds are impossible on that connection method!😕

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

That BT speed test doesn't correlate to your routers stats - hopefully one of the PN Help Team will pick this up, because I'm sorry to say I'm totally stumped.

ADSL2 has a top speed of 24Mb/s if the line is sort enough and the downstream attenuation of 13dB confirms that.

I was getting 16Mb/s down on a 32dB attenuation!

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

Ok so a ticket has suddenly appeared on my account with lots of system user responses. Looks like they are actually doing something.

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

@Browni Sorry, yes you are correct, and the OP's stats kind of show that could be achievable - so why are they only getting 3.4Mb/s?

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

I would hazard a guess that the speedtests are done over WiFi.

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

Good point. I hadn't considered that, because my connection is over Wi-Fi and I get what I expect.

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

ok so I have done a few test on different devices:

phone on wifi: 1mb

Ipad wifi: 14mb

Laptop wifi 1mb

Wired different laptop: 18mb

However the same wired test on xbox and on the tv sometimes result in 1-3mbps but other times 18-20. Seems to be sporadic.

I have done all these test previously and when the internet isn't working properly I get 1mbps on most devices wired on not.

If I upload any file over 8mb I get 0.3 - 0.5 mbps download speeds basically makes the internet unusable. But i think that may just be the way it is as I've heard of similar performance from other ISPs.

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

Ipad is back 3mbps.

I'm turning everything else off closing all apps checking network monitors to make sure the speediest is accurate.

Re: Slow internet 1mbps max

I'm just wondering now if you are on a crowded wi-fi channel? If you haven't got an analyser, try downloading, installing and running this free program : https://www.acrylicwifi.com/en/wlan-wifi-wireless-network-software-tools/wlan-scanner-acrylic-wifi-f...

to your laptop and then post the results?
