bits in the units he is mentioning. It is also interesting that the constraining factor in his wired transfer is probably the access/read/write speed of the hard drives, not the network.
Either way, I got rather confused trying to guess what's what with the transfer speeds mentioned. For the avoidance of doubt a vanilla 108.11g WiFi connection advertised as 54 Mbps (mega bits per second) can only achieve a half duplex throughput speed of 24 Mbps:
